I'm concerned about all of the links to brain disorders and pesticides on produce. And the hormones used in the animals that provide us our meat and milk (dairy, etc.)

Yep. I also feed my children and myself (and my hubby) organically grown and naturally raised cattle/chickens, etc.) because of the benefit to the environment. I don't think it's a joke at all. We're affected if we eat non-organic produce (regardless of whether or not it's washed there is still remnants of toxic pesticides that are nerve agents!) or it affects our water. Farmers that use pesticides on their produce pollute the soil and ground water. So... it's not a "joke"... as one commenter flippantly stated.

You have an excellent point. When some people find out you're not breastfeeding, they have the same reaction as if you had beer in your child's bottle.................. I think people just like to have a cause. That, or its job security for people like the lactation consultants. Breastfeeding has been something that has been turned into somewhat of a fad that has been popular some years and not popular other years. If you talk to different generations, you may see a pattern. My parents and my husbands parents did not breastfeed, although the generation before them did. This generation seems to be back on the bandwagon...... It is definitely an odd trend. I have a 6 week old and I do not breastfeed. I gave it an honest try, and my baby was born weighing 10 lbs, 6 oz and simply needed more nourishment than I could provide for her. She was absolutely miserable and essentially went without food for 27 hours after birth before I finally gave in and gave her formula. Once she had a full tummy she was a different baby and completely content and happy with the world. I felt horrible for her going so long without food! So, you and I really need to just thicken our skins and know that we love our children despite what busybodies say. I'm sure they have a million bad parenting skeletons in their closets that are just not quite so obvious as giving a baby a bottle......... when its not even bad parenting! I feel for you, I really do.

Yes, it's only organic in our family. And of COURSE a farmer is going to tell you organic foods are a joke! Who is going to admit that their product is substandard? Anyway, it began well before I was pregnant, but became especially important when we found out we were expecting our son. We also made all of our own baby food - and yes, it was all organic. At 3, he still eats only organic food - from produce to dairy and meat to crackers and bread. I've also heard about the connection to brain disorders, which is just one of the reasons we're an organic family. I'm concerned about pesticides, but I'm more concerned about chemically - based preservatives, and "fake" things like high fructose corn syrup. All are very unhealthy and best to be kept out of a child's diet as much as possible.

Yes, I only try to feed my baby organic food. To be honest he has more engery than most babies his age or older. All the regular food has to much sugar and fat. Not putting people down who do not feed their baby organic, because I know that it can be very costly. My baby can not even drink Whole Milk at all. We gave him the milk and it came back up chunky like cottage cheese. So, I am so glad that they have organic and soy milk, because not all babies can have the regular type of milk. Even, when I was pregnant I took Omega 3 vitamins with my prenatal for the babies brain development.

Absolutely, I do. I started really educating myself about nutrition during my nursing school years and even more so when I became pregnant. I learned that even after washing there are still pesticides left on our fruits and veggies, particularly the soft ones (tomatoes, strawberries, grapes, etc.) I'm not feeding my baby that junk! It's linked, PROVEN to be linked, to cancer and a whole host of health issues down the road.

We try to make the majority of our produce organic because we understand how dangerous it is to feed our growing child anything but. I have to look for sales and really bargain shop to make it work, but it's worth it. Sometimes I'll buy non-organic avocados or bananas and just really wash the peels before cutting them or peeling them. I heard it's most important to buy organic animal products and fruits and veggies that's peels are eaten. So we definitely do our best!

Ever since learning about the connection between pesticides and all kinds of health and brain problems...... yes. It can get pricey sometimes but it's important to me. The more research you do the easier it becomes to spend that extra money!

Yes. It's scary what health problems are associated with the foods we feed our kids. I think it's important because they're relying upon us to give them SAFE and nutritious food during their formative years. I try to go to my local farmers market once a week to get our produce. It actually isn't much more expensive when I plan right.

I grew up farming, every generation of my family up until my father has been farmers.

I can assure you organic produce if the BIGGEST joke out there. We all sit and laugh at how idiotic you consumers are.

I know it sounds harsh- but its true. If anyone told you that breathing air killed you, and that full face masks are safer, you'd buy them, and for more money than theyre worth.

Gullible. lol.

Wash your produce, buy local meat. Its not complicated.
