He's my first dog. I didn't expect him to start getting a gray chin until he was a lot older. Is this normal? I can't believe my baby is turning gray!!! lol

That's strange...I was wondering the same thing. My black lab mix is only a little over two years old and he's starting to grey on his snout.

I guess it is either normal at that age or both of our dogs live very stressful lives. :)

With an average life span of 10-15 years for black labs this seems a bit young for age graying. So after doing some research I discovered that it could be due to stress, food and even thyroid problems or brindling of the fur(could be caused by scars or poor breeding), which is a disqualification (if due to poor breeding) in a lab. I would take him to the vet for a check up and make sure it's nothing serious that's causing him to age prematurely. Our black lab at the nursing home didn't start graying until he was 12 years old. Good luck with your pet and love him grays and all!

It may sound strange but animals get grey hair too. My friend has a chocolate lab that has grey under its chin. It looks pretty strange too.
