Has your doctor ever done blood tests to check the blood levels and/or check that you are taking your correct dose of seroquel? Do you know if doctors do this?

I've been taking Seroquel (400mg) for about 3 years, my doctor has me take a blood test every 6 months or so to check my blood sugar and also my cholesterol, along with liver functioning (I take other meds too) and such, Seroquel can cause your triglycerides to rise, mine raised high enough so that now I have to take meds to lower it. Of course, with Seroquel, or any meds, the benefit almost always out ways the risk, at least that's what my doctor keeps telling me. Good luck.

I used to take Seroquel and they checked my blood every now and then; mainly for blood sugar, I think. There is a slight risk of diabetes; I don't think anyone ever got diabetes from Seroquel but some similar drugs like Zyprexa have this side effect. I think it's just to make sure everything is okay.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seroquel

I scanned over this and didn't see any mention of blood testing like they would with lithium. Still, it's very informative. Hope it helps.
