Purchased new '07 Ford F-150XL but having buyers remorse. Will the dealer help me get into something else or am I screwed. Purchased 8/29/07, 1,780 miles. I have strong credit. I like to get a Ford with better gas mileage. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

While nearly no dealer will be sympathetic to your situation by letting you give it back, they'll likely be more than happy to sell you another car and have you take a hit on the F-150 which they can re-sell as a nice, low-mileage pre-owned truck.

Look at it this way, you'll likely lose a couple grand, but it may well be worth it to you to have a vehicle you like for years, versus one you're quietly going to loathe. If you really have your heart set on another Ford but still want something with room and better mileage, you could look at the Edge or the new Taurus X. They offer Ford's new and much-improved Duratec 35 263 horsepower V6 and 6-speed automatic, that's both decently powerful and a heck of a lot more economical than your F-150 is likely to be. If you can get away with something a bit less large, go for a Ford Fusion or Ford Taurus 4-dr. The new Taurus is last year's Ford Five Hundred with the better, more economical Duratec 35 engine and has loads of interior room and a high seating position for a sedan.

Good luck.

P.S. I once had buyer's remorse and am now driving what I really wanted. It's worth it.

Well you are kinda screwed. I'm sure the dealer will help you out but the max depreciation is the day you roll off the lot. With only 1700 miles on your truck you will receive a nice trade in value. So the answer to your question goes back to the original deal. If you paid cash for the truck you are in good shape. If you put little or no money down you could owe more then the trade in value. This is called upside down in the vehicle world. If you want better mileage in a ford truck take a look at the ford escape hybrid. But note that the truck gets great mileage with the a/c off only! When you turn on the a/c the gas engine runs all the time and only yields about 23mpg in the city.

I think your too late. You can sell it yourself but wont get back all of your money. Im not sure how that would work if your leasing or making payments. Contact the dealer him/herself and tell them what are some options. Maybe you can trade it in...

Id say stick it out and deal with it, How bad could it be?? I bought a 2007 Ford Ranger Sport thinking it will have better gas than a v8 but its just the same as a bigger truck. Ford right now doesnt have a great fuel efficient truck. Toyota tundra or that new chevy thats out is better for gas but for pussys. Stick with the f-150.

Right now you're so upside down that screwed is probably the best way to describe it. But, you're credit is strong, maybe the dealership will want to take care of you. What do you do? If you hold a position where you're kind of high profile... newspaper editor, K-mart manager... you should play that card.

Your new truck is now a used truck and it has already decreased in value considerably. Yes, you can trade it in, but you are going to lose money on the deal, and I'm talking about thousands of dollars.

Try driving an Abrams M-1 battle tank around for a day. You will appreciate the gas mileage you have now.

well i would trade it back in if you don't like it. Plus a better and cuter car for the enviroment would be a Prius, and Prius's a affordable (like 20,000 or 23,000)
