What should I do? Someone abandoned a cat in my complex. It's getting cold outside, but I have cats already...

Question

We want to give it a home, but when we let him in, he attacked one of our cats. What should we do?? I love my cats, but don't want this abandoned cat to freeze to death... Any suggestions on how to get them used

my suggestion would be to get a cat carry cage and put the abandoned cat inside and place the cage in your lounge area and let both sets of cats get used to one another, then graudally open the door of the cage when you feel the abandoned cat has got used to your cats and the new surroundings, if all fails , try and find a loving home [ie] mother, or friends you'd trust in looking after a animal that has had a bad start in life............good luck......its nice to know there are still people in this world like you.

Keep them in seperate rooms for a few weeks (no lie, this has to be done VERY gradually), in the meantime get new kitty past the vet for shots and to get fixed, this will help calm the temperament). Microchip, etc.

Then swop it round, put the other cats into the new cat's room and take the new cat into a different room for a whole week, let them gradually get used to each other, epsecially since it twent badly to begin with. Then take something one of the other cats sleep on and rub the new guy all over with it, and vice versa.

Slowly, gradually., little by little, and you shold have success. The longer you take the better it should go at the end, if you rush and they fight, you have to start all over again, so having this take months is not a bad thing.

Take the poor thing in as another pet! If you are worried about it not getting along with your other cats, only let them see each other once a day and gradually more frequently so they can get used to each other. If you can't have any more pets for some reason, put adds in the paper or on telephone poles or somewhere where the public will see it.

If you have a shed or anything in your yard you could use as shelter, put a blanket, food and water (maybe even a toy or two) in it. Call a Non-Kill Animal Shelter too and they could take care of it until someone adopts it. If you do decide to take it to a Non-Kill Shelter make sure the people there know that it doesn't get along with other cats and maybe they could tame it, or when someone comes to adopt it to make sure they have no cats.

well something Ur cats don't use cuz u don't know what it has but don't just leave it!! because someone abandoned a kitten at my house it was starving!!! so i feed it but my cat dint like her so the kitten ran away and ended up getting hit by a car so I wish i would have sent her to a shelter or gave her to some one who's cats weren't stubborn!PLEASE learn from my experience!!!!

Very, very slowly. Keep them in separate rooms for a while. Or find a home for the cat. Or take him to the local no-kill animal shelter.

You should take it in for as long as you can but put it in a seperate room and get it fixed, shots, all that so you know it's safe. Then take one cat in the room it is in and watch them. Let them get along so you can know that when you leave, they won't kill each other.

I wouldn't let a strange cat inside your house. You have no idea what it is carrying. Call your local animal control and have them pick the cat up (or local ASPCA).

If they don't get alone, you will have to take it to the animal shelter. Maybe someone will adopt it.
