I have a fridge with a freezer on top like any other standard fridge. My problem is that my freezer is only freezing liquids like ice cubes. I keep my milk, juices and everything else in the freezer because the fridge part doesn't keep my stuff cold enough.

Anyways, would it be a good idea to take all my meat and wrap it individually, then submerge it into bowls of water so that they will freeze?? I can't afford to lose my meat because I have quite a bit and I don't want to throw it all away.

Thanks.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing. I know a new one will be expensive. Try the classifieds they may have one cheap or even free at least till you could get a new one. check the back of your fridge . the coils on the back may be collecting dust vacuum and clean and make sure (If you have a top mount) the vent to the fridge part isn't clogged. I hope this helps good luck.

added note. I needed a new stove this year, the oven part not working at all. Eeek and thanksgiving around the corner. I put the word out that I needed a new stove friends, co workers and what not. One of my friends (who work for the local fire department) His work was getting rid of a perfectly good stove for free. see miracles do happen. check your local craigslist too. I did for a long time. I always saw fridges for free never stoves I would check.

Do you have renters or homeowners insurance? If so, let it all go bad. Freezer loss doesn't have a deductible. Your whole refrigerator appliance will have a deductible. The standard is $800 for loss of food. Call your agent tomorrow and say your fridge died. Then get a new one.

just wrap them good is your thermostat turned up and is the back and under the fridge clear of dust? that will clog the condenser and it will not cool correctly
