I want to make it seem bigger without getting rid of anything. We don't have a basement or attic to put anything in. My bedroom is only a little bigger than my grandmother's walk-in closet.

My furniture:

Twin bed
Nightstand
CD rack (the size of a small bookshelf)
Desk
Stool
2 filing cabinets
Dresser
Table (where I keep schoolbooks and stuff)
2 bookshelves
Kitty litterbox
Chair

The room is really tiny... There is no closet (so there are clothes all over the place), and slanted ceilings make it so I can't have shelves. I also have lots of boxes stacked all over the place full of random stuff with no home.

I need some attractive storage solutions that won't make my room look any smaller. You name it, I've got it, and need to find a place for it. I know it sounds like I need to get rid of some stuff, but I really use almost everything I have.

I have lived here for 7 years, but I am fed up with the mess and the fact that I don't have enough space.

PLEASE help!!

Hi,

You might want to try this site for help. It strictly deals with helping people who live in small spaces and also has a question section for visitors to write in for help in situations like yours.

However I would recommend being more specific about your details, such as providing photos that can show how your room looks or a floor plan or by simply specifying your rooms dimensions.

ok, first of all you need to be totally organized. Everything out of the room. Bring back the bed. Now under the bed you can purchase storage tupperware containers that can put your seasonal clothes in. Whatever goes under the bed, put in a box and label it. The nightstand, desk, stool, dresser. Bring back. You have to loose the table and put the books on the desk where they should be. The two file cabinets , hold?? You need to really determine if they are needed or not. If they are do they hold clothes or really important papers? Do you need both? The bookshelves, can they be stacked on top of each other??? Do you really need all of the books or can a space be cleared for your schoolbooks that have no room on the desk? Kitty litterbox why the bedroom? Is there no other space in the house for them? They should be in the basement or near the back door. Or the bottom of a closet that you can leave open for them.... The chair, is it really necessary ???? Hope I was a little help.

Use a storage! I just moved from 2 to 1 bedroom place and there is no way I could get rid off anything but from another hand I couldn't feet all my stuff to the new place. Movers that moved me have a some storage deal that was cheaper than public storage in the area so I guess that's should help. Find some local storage units close to your home.

Maybe try building a loft style bed.. You can get plans online and with about $200 worth of supplies have your bed up higher.. You could use under the bed as a desk area, sitting area or a place to put your dressers. It's very popular in college/universities. If that's NOT an option you could get bed lifts that would lift your bed 7-12 inches and you could store out of season clothing, linens etc.. under the bed. You might want to go through all your belongings bit by bit and get rid of things that you seldom use... Or donate them to charity. Burn your CD's on to your computer/ipod etc... Get rid of the CD's/cases.. If you want to keep the CD's loose the cases and put everything in case logics. That will save you a lot of space.. We have 4-5 "books" that take up much less space then cd's,dvd's etc.... If you burn them to computer you can do away with them or only keep the one's that you really listen to... Good luck

Sounds like you don't have a lot of floor space so you go up the wall. An inexpensive white bookcase would give your daughter lower shelves she could easily reach and you could place less used toys on the higher shelves. You can buy a cheap one (Ikea) or a wood one if you think she'll want a bookcase later to store or display big girl things. For piece of mind, use a couple of screws to hold it to the wall.

Raise the bed, store extra under it.
Stack some of the furniture.
stack filing cabinets unless both are 4 door each.
or filing cabinets side by side with book shelf on top them.
Perhaps raise desk a little & fit somthing under one side.
