I wanted to know how to crosay braid. I'm trying to do it for my little cousin, but I'm jsut not getting it

Crocheting and braiding are two completely independent things.

A braid is made with three strands (chunks of hair, yarn, whatever)...Fold the right strand over the center strand, so that the right strand becomes the center strand, and the center strand becomes the right strand. Then fold the left strand over the center strand so that the left strand becomes the center strand, and the center strand becomes the left strand...Repeat the process until you have reached the end of your strands.

Crocheting is done with a single strand, and a "needle" that has a hook at the end. You have to start the chain with a loop tied in a knot (there's one that's supposed to be used but I can never remember how to tie it!). Once you have the small loop made, slip the hooked end of the needle through it, hook the untied yarn through the needle, and use the hook to pull the piece of yarn through the loop. This will leave you with a loop of yarn around the needle...Hook the next section of yarn on the needle and pull it through again. It's essentially a sequence of slip knots.
