I heard on the radio that a small dog chewed away a young 4 month-old baby boy's genitals ...several cases occurred like this as well in the past. Then looking at blogs, humans actually had the nerve to say it isn't fair to put down the dogs because it didn't know what it was doing. It's pathetic. If a animal can love, it can also get angry and jealous as well, right? Who's to say the animal didn't know it was harming the infant? Please. People are sick, What about those babies?!

i think you people are very very sad. you care more for a dumb dog than you do an innocent life. if the dog can love, how do you figure it can be jealous or angry?? how would you even have proof that it didn't. this society is sick and it saddens me that you (answer #1) would rather save a dog than a human ...you sicken me.

yes, this is the parent's fault, as it is the owner's fault of whoever, but it is also the dog's fault itself. don't act like trained animals don't attack. what's wrong with some of you. why do you even have pets?

I am one of those people who usually feel bad for those dogs. I do understand your point and where you are coming from, but I do not agree with you. Please know my heart breaks for those children, as well. I cannot imagine the horror.
However, we are so quick to blame and point the finger at the dog in question instead of the idiot owner. I believe the owners are to blame. The problem is either their dog is not trained or they do not know their dogs. You need to be able to understand and truly be able to read your dogs.
I am sorry but you don't wake up one day and out of the blue find your dog chewing on your baby. There are absolutely warning signs. People need to be more responsible, smarter about picking breeds, more picky as to where they purchase their dogs from, and need to be mandated to require some sort of training.

Animals are animals no matter how well they are trained. I blame the parents for leaving that an option for the dog to do. Dogs, cats, horses no matter how tame or well trained still are animals. Even though I feel like my Dob es are like my children but I don't leave my great nieces venerable to them, I trust them but any quick movement may be interrupt as a "lets play." You must recognize they ARE animals first then dog then breed then name. That is what Ceasar Millan said in the book. It is a sad thing all the way around for that misforunate child the parents should have been more responsible. It had to take the dog more than a sec and were they that far away that they couldn't hear the cry?

In that case it is fair to euthanize the animal but there are also several cases where a child pulls a dogs tail and the dog bites the child etc. In that case I believe it's the child's fault. Dogs and children don't always mix, do your research before getting a dog when there are children in the house, or better yet, don't get a dog until your children are old enough to know between right and wrong. Or, don't have children!

you have to realize it goes a bit deaper than that. A lot of people that have dogs then have babies, ignore the dog, the dog isn't getting proper training and love. They think oh the dog is fine with the baby leave them alone and then look what happens.I can't say the dog doesn't know any better, but the parents would. Plus a dog doesn't know shapes and colors, how would it know what its chewing on. I don't think its the dogs fault for what happened, its the parents fault, plus there are some dogs, depending on age that should not be around babies, depending on their background.

Where were the parents!!!! I don't care how wonderful and trustworthy your dog is, never, never take a chance with your child. I was trying to figure out how the dog managed to chew through the pajamas, diapers and bed clothing without anyone noticing? Surely the baby cried out, what kind of parents did he have? This whole thing is mind boggling.......

oh, i feel very sorry for the poor babies. If the adults in the childs life can't even properly raise a puppy to dog, how are their children going to fair? It is just sad that this little human has parents who can't even raise a dog right. Very sad for the babies.

I do agree that a dog who has harmed a person/infant without reason should probably be euthanized. I do not think people are discouraging that...I think people are trying to say that it ultimately is our job to train a dog...and many people fail to do that....therefore; these cases happen. I feel bad for the dog because without the proper training it never got the chance to live a life it should have.

I don't see why you can't have sympathy for both the dog and the child at the same time, the dog is obviously passed a second chance and needs to be put down, but it is the parents fault for not watching them both. So why blame to dog at all if bad owners ruined its chances in life, it can't be held to human standards of morality? I feel bad for the dog because it is being killed, but I feel bad for the kid at the same time. Why can't you do both?

I would not argue that a dog who severely injured an infant needed to be put down, but you obviously know absolutely nothing about dogs. They have no ability to be jealous or angry, or even devious. Those less than desired traits are left for us humans.
It is pathetic that you know so little about animals, but are on the pet site bashing animal lovers.

People are sad and pathetic and lazy.
No it is not pathetic to feel sympathy for a dog having to be put down for doing something like this.
It is pathetic that the dog has to die because it's owners were too uncaring to try to understand their dogs needs and provide for them so it would not feel jealousy and it's just plain negligent for anyone to leave a dog unattended with a baby or any small child for that matter.the owner should be put to sleep not the dog.
