Tell him this:

"I will agree to let you drop out if you get a full-time job and get yourself back and forth every day. You will pay 1/4 of your pay towards rent and 1/4 towards food and 1/4 towards laundry and utilities. The other 1/4 is yours. I will not provide you with a vehicle. If you lose your job you will have two weeks to get another or you will have to move out. If you get arrested I will not bail you out. I will not provide you with a vehicle or a cell phone."

Then she has to put it in writing, make him sign and date it, and make him find a FT job before he leaves school. Otherwise, put a PINS on his azz and see how he likes that.

Hello, I think it is sweet that you are so concerned for your brother. What is being done in the mean time? Does your mom help him with his school work? Is he a good student?
He maybe thinking of dropping out because he is behind in school.
I would first get in touch with the school, find out what is going on and if there is a way to help him pull his grades up.
there are several different programs that every school in America that are designed to help students with lower then normal grades.
But it isn't the schools sole responsibility to make sure that a student is successful. The parents have to do their part and get active in the education of their children, talk to teachers, counselors, principal.
No school will give up on a child who is failing. They will be more then willing to set up a program designed to help the student succeed.
But it has to start with your mom & dad. They need to call the school, get active and move forward.
Make sure that they talk to your brother so that they understand what is going on with him. Why does he want to drop out? What can be done to fix it?

Is he already involved with the wrong crowd? Might be experimenting with drugs or alcohol?

Everything that is going on with him is important to what he feels, and the decisions he makes. A lot of kids just feel like they are all finished growing up and know better. And until they are proved wrong, (some times over & over again) the behavior will not change.
So your mom really needs to be the one asking the questions. Make sure she reads these responses.

How old are you? I wish you the best of luck, your brother & you will be in my prayers!

Try to find out why he is thinking of dropping out. I think the biggest reason that many drop out is because of not getting good grades so if that is the case, get to a health food store and get some DMAE. This is a natural substance with no side effects that I first heard of some 25 years ago and everyone I told about that thanked me because it helped both their memory and concentration.
If it is a problem with his self esteem or getting along with people in school, get him to go to the site I will give you a link for and that may help as well. I hope this helps.
