I am an owner of a small time diving business hull cleaning mostly. I was recently approched by a guy claiming to have served in as a Army Ranger. I served from Operation Just Cause, to Iraq and Afghanistan. This guy claims he served in the US Army as a Ranger, and as Recondo in every operation since Urgent Fury! When I asked him with whom, he said 18th Ariborne Corps in Grenada. I thought Rangers and 82nd handled that one............I think he is lying to me about 90% of what he says. I DO NOT have his date of nbirth but I have his name and social security number. Can ANYONE please help me? In this day and age I am so pissed off at those who claim military service when men and women and 24 of my friends have died in serving our country, yes his lies are to me "stolen Valor" Oh when I asked about a CIB, he said "he was an RTO, didnt get one" always an answer Thank you in advance

Its important to me because I served for 27 years.............and I hate LIARS......he has more stories than I have drank beer. Honestly he said he has been in every conflict since Grenada October 1982. I dont believe that at all, and I want to prove him right, or wrong. Do you trust liars? I dont, if he is lying about his service then what else would he lie about? thats why and why say he is something he never was? I dont, I was a helicopter door gunner, after I was a paratrooper, its that simple. I havent fought in every conflict, but have in a 4. I survived a crash in Korea where friends died, I carry that grief forever and it was a training mission.........and this guy has not produced a DD-214

Have the guy fill out a SF 180 and have the DD214 and 2-1 sent to your office. The 2-1 will list every unit he was assigned to and what actions he was involved in. His DD 214 should also reflect this as well.

There are allot of Ranger types that are not in Ranger units, but are assigned to various other units. The usually are training NCO's. I remember reading in Army Times in the 1980's and also in Army Magazine that the Army's policy was to rotate these guys throughout the army to help train various combat arms units.

You can also go to Google and type in the guys name or go to Military.com and see if he is listed in there and what hims MOS would be. If he was a chaplin's assistant, he didn't serve with a ranger unit. I served at Ft. Lewis from 1982 to 1983. The Ranger Battalions are very lean units. Almost every guys is combat arms.

If the was an RTO, the should have gotten a CIB. All the RTO's are are 11B's with a radio.

It sounds like he knows an awful lot about the workings of the military to be a civilian, although even if he served it doesn't prove he's telling the truth about everything. Just in case, try asking down at the VA- they'll have some records if he's telling the truth, or at least be able to point you in the right direction.

It may well be impossible. It is not that these jobs are classified, as they are not really "classified" just that their actions are secret. The main reason is that the military, until very recently, kept poor records on special forces. If the person is claiming to have been in any branch of special forces before about 1995, then it is likely that you may never be able to prove or disprove him. Even if you find no information about him in any database, he could still be telling the truth.

Tell him you need his DD 214. If he claims all his stuff was classified, kick him off the dock. If he claims he does not have one, kick him off the dock.
If he was in any of those actions he has a CIB. Run him off now, quit wasting your time on the zero.

an excellent style of the data for evolution (pre-Darwin) got here from human beings attempting to coach the Bible. while they trie to music each and all of the distribution of all animals back to one element (Noah's ark), they stumbled on there grew to become into too plenty version existence and the distribution grew to become into incorrect. they have discovered their lesson. After this is all, while you are going to grant a falsehood, this is in basic terms a lie in case you certainly examined the belief earlier making the assertion.

DD-214 should document years of service, MOS and major campaigns.

Well 18th Abn Corps is Ft Bragg, so he is kinda right. However, to my knowledge there are no Ranger units there, only SF units.

Military.com should have him, at least his name and MOS and rank at time of discharge.........

Sorry, but i really dont see why it bothers you so much. Unless you see this guy everyday, just shrug it off. I saw a guy in class a's with no unit patch on, and i asked him who he was with and he said his girlfriend whoever, (cant remember her name). I just laughed and walked away. There are fakers all over, its easy to buy uniforms these days. Just laugh at the guy and walk away. Don't let someone else dictate your mood, especially fakers.

Why is it so important to you? There are lots of people who falsely brag about military records. "Those who were there" don't need to brag.
