If someone broke into my home, he'd be lying dead on the carpet.

This is a variation of the two prisoner escape problem.
In any kind of life threatening situation, the faster you take action to change the situation for your benefit, the better. The longer you let the situation continue, the more inertia of thought prevents action.
The logical thing to do is for you BOTH to rush the guy at the same time. He assumes you would be making the decision and when you both rush him, HE has to make the decision and since he was not expecting such a quick response, there will be a delay before he can act.
However, if you are a Liberal you sit there and let him do what he wants then blame yourself for making him kill someone.

Wow, that's a tough one. I can sit here and speculate all day, but in reality, I don't know what I would do. He'd better give me about 2 hours to think about it!
If I had the ability to choose, and my partner had no say in it, I couldn't let her die for a decision that I made. I would probably take my own life to save her.
But who is really gonna do that in reality? Unless this is like some situation from the Saw movies, I doubt someone will ever make me do that.

I hope it'll never have to come to that, but depending on how I stand towards that partner (had you asked me this question 5 weeks ago, I would've said the partner), I'd either sacrifice myself or save myself. If the partner is worth dying for, that is.
But my first reaction would be to immobilise the person holding me at gun shot.

You and your partner are dead anyway. It is a false choice. Make your move, try to take him/her down. If it fails, you and your partner are no worse off than before, but you died fighting for something, and did not die believing a liar.

Impeyan Link, Brian, and some others have it right. I'd risk my ***, and die trying rather than live to a ripe old age remembering the death of a loved one that had a chance to live, but died because I was a coward. God has nothing to do with it for me.

If they held me at gun shot, does that mean they already shot me?
As to the rest of the scenario I alwyas had a hard time with this...I would want to save his life but then again if I died he would feel guilty.
Obviously this type of scenario is a no winner.

If someone came to my home and held me at gun shot, I would assume they would kill me no matter what I said.
How do you people think of questions like this?
It's sad.

the 1st 2 situations that got here approximately, my spouse drew down on them. They have been shocked that the blond chick replaced into donning. while she gave them a decision, they dropped their weapons/knives and waited meekly for the officers to reach. The final time it got here approximately, that's the 0.33 and final time, he replaced into an fool and did no longer have faith that she could shoot him. while he advised her that - she shot him in the two legs together with her 40 5. The EMT's laughed their asses off.

At gun shot, I think it would be too late. At gun point, of course I would die so my husband could live. I love him, I wouldn't want him to have to die that way.

I would try to take the gun from the guy. If we're gonna die anyway, might as well go down with a fight.
