Good Question, well said Qiyamah...

I think they are worried because they cannot see most of the Muslim womens faces when they cover themselves, these non muslims like to keep watching womens 24/7.

If they are happy that a woman is wearing revealing clothes and don't think shes oppressed, then why should they be bothered about a woman whose covered herself.

Its an old argument one of the way that the British really
effected the wearing of the Hi jab in Egypt during their occupation, was to attack the clothes that Muslims were wearing. This is nothing new if we give in here, then they'll slowly keeping going until theres only a name left.

Be pro choice and its your choice to cover up.

In fact the woman who dresses to attract men is in chains that she may never be free from. Until she grows too old and cannot compete anymore then the people will throw her on the scrapheap. Or be a woman who makes people she her for herself, for what she really is. A dignified human being.

This is just a guess but...
a lot of these women live in fear and do not have a "voice". Maybe they are trying to give them a voice.
"60 Minutes" had a show recently were they interviewed a lot of Muslim women and all said the same thing: that the felt oppressed....
Just reporting what the show said - don't kill the messenger
but...
Why would someone want to live that way?

It's not because of you. It's because of the women who get punished for NOT wearing a head covering, even if they're not Muslim. If it's genuinely your choice, that's great; but some countries make it a law to do it whether or not the woman is Muslim. That's the source of some of the outcry.

Salam
As a muslim, I have yet to see a women that is covered be anything more than a women that is covered. Its not the covering its what is in their heart that is the key!

I met too many fake muslims to even begin to tell you the head gear has nothing to do with who they are. There is about 4% of real women that do put it on for the sake of Allah the rest of hypocrates and do it for the sake of their father or those around them for a manzar..*show*, you want the truth that is the truth. Anyone that is oppressed is oppressed by themselves.

u know rabia. just shut up. u dont do hijab so why do u care. i would reccommend people not to answer al qiyamah and delete her from your list. she is a bad girl. she thinks shahid afridi is a hot person. a muslim girl is not suppose to talk such filth at all. not even a word. did the prophet (S.a.w.s) ever say that any woman was hot?huh? now think for a while. u always be religious and also think some men are hot. what r u? think? what will u say to allah on the day of judgement. all muslim men and women should think about this. never think like this again.

Salaam Alaykum .It is because they are uneducated. They evidently haven't seen in real life young Muslim girls these days in western clothes and no Hijab. The Princess Rania of the Royal Hashemite Kingdom Of Jordan doesn't even wear one...it is a choice in several middle eastern countries Palestine,Egypt,
Jordan,Morocco,Algeria,Croatia, India, and Lebanon to name a few. Some do and some don't wear hijab and love to wear western clothes, other girls wear western t shirts and jeans and a headscarf. The Dress code in some radical countries is still imposed. It was written in the Quran and a woman should be treated equal..not biased on their appearnce and more on their faith. I never feel oppressed in hijab it is my freedom and I love it! Wa Salaam

You know what? This question is ridiculous! If you are free to make your own decision, then Thank God! You should then be considering your Muslim sisters who are not as fortunate as you. Don't tell me you haven't heard the horror stories of women being beaten, spit upon, acid thrown at them, little girls trapped in a burning school...all because they were not dressed properly. YOU SHOULD CARE! Somebody has to help these poor women. I guess Christians, Jews, atheists, pagans, you know infidels, will help them while you are busy whining.

God Bless.

you cant fault the cat for being curious, most of the people we see and enter-act w/ havent seen muslim women who cover. i am pretty sure that if one day men started to wear dresses you would ask why? why not educate non muslims about this.......
haha this morning in poli sci....i was asked if i take my scarf off when i sleep, shower, get home, or all the time 24/7 it funny, and awkward, but funny.

There is no choice for the women, and it is a symbol of overall oppression. Women are equal to men, and by forcing women to do such things against their will they are trying to claim superiority.
