Manifest Destiny refers to America's expansion in North America from one ocean to another (atlantic to pacific) It's tough to argue why it wasn't good because it increased it's territory, avaliability of resources, and eventually wealth.

It did however negatively affect our relationships with neighboring countries or tribes. I.E. The Indian tribes who lived on that land, The negative affect on Mexican American relations, etc.

What the heck is 'manifest destiny'?

Is that like if I believe I am destined to drive my bike into a grocery store and smash all the produce for God, then I will fulfill it out of faith and duty?

I agree with eelai000. GWB thinks he is infallible. Unfortunately that has nothing to do w/manifest destiny.

It was great for America. It just sucked for everyone else who got in our way. So we decided to stop being an empire and start being a republic. The age of empires kind of fizzled out shortly after. We were kind of a trend setter in that respect.

no. goeorge bush thinks he's in his position because god annointed him. because of this he thinks that he can do no wrong. look where that has gotten us.
