Well i know 4of them. There's a 1.depression that comes with anxiety and it's after givin birth.
there's also 2. major depression or clinical depression and there's a 3. depression that is seasonal. It only happens in winter. the symptons for these are major sadness that goes on for days, feelings of worthless, guilt, negative thoughts, thinking people would be better without you, suicide, sometimes depressed for no reason, eating less/more, sleeping less/more. There's also depression that comes with people that have bordeline personality. 4. there's bipolar. Bipolar is the same, but you keep switching between two moods. You are either manic or depressed, you are never in between without medicine help.

There are different degrees of depression. Some depression just lasts for a few days, and is most often due to either hormone fluctuations or situations in life. There is clinical depression, which can last much longer, and requires medication and sometimes therapy. There is also manic depression, called Bi-Polar disorder which involves varying degrees of depression & a heightened, overexcited state.

There are several types of depression, as well as several ways it can affect you personally. I suggest checking out this link and reading up on it. http://webmd.com/depression
There are also a lot of conditions that SEEM like depression, such as anxiety disorders. For a long time I thought I was depressed, when I actually had GAD (general anxiety disorder). I suggest making an appointment with your MD and asking for a referral to a psycologist. They can accuratley diagnose your personal problem.
Good luck and feel better!
P.S. - Don't listen to people that try and say "It's just a state of mind. Just get over it!" My ex-husband kept telling me to do this, and I believed it for soooooo long. Turns out all it did was make it worse in the end. Anxiety & depression CAN get better, but you have to do something about it...it won't get better on it's own just by "thinking" it away.

depression is feeling crappy, it is not a disease, it is not a state or syndrome, but a feeling of crappyness. Learn to let it go, and keep on keepin on with your life... depression=sad while sad=not good for you, so watch some family guy, and be happy
