Earth is round:
Isaiah 40:22

Uncle Thesis gave specific examples that are often cited, but which when taken in context are meaningless. Isaiah for example refers to the circle of the earth but in the original Hebrew clearly meant the vault of the sky encompassed with the earth like a snow globe.

And Job talks about the earth in the sense of the land or country. Job had no special understanding of a suspended globe. In fact, the very next verse is this:

He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them. -- Job 26:8

Job thought clouds seperated the water from the earth like a balloon, but in fact, clouds ARE water in vapor form.

I could go on debunking point for point the theistic arguments, but why bother?

Here are better questions. Why didn't the bible mention dinosaurs? Why didn't God describe the double helix of DNA? Why didn't God explain to someone how to make a simple battery? Why didn't God tell somebody about the western hemisphere? Why didn't God suggest to somebody that they go to China and learn from the Chinese how to make gun powder to better fight the Romans? Why didn't God warn somebody about Hitler? John saw Armegeddon but he couldn't see WWII?

Trigonometry? Binary? The internal combustion engine? Penicillin? Pasteurization? Steel?

ADDING: Seriously, DC - Revelation was about string theory? And why is that other passage about cloning and not about vivisection? It seems more akin to Frankenstein or Dr Moreau than the Boys from Brazil to me.

I'll take denial over self-delusion any day.

What 'day' are you referrin' to? In that case, When the 'old testament' was written, no one could have possibly known about the details of Jesus' birth, life, and death. Yet, Prophets like Isaiah, wrote about those very things. P.S. how can people give negative votes for a sincere question, asked, to be able to better answer your question?!

Jonah said there were mountains at the bottom of the sea. Isaiah states that the earth is a circle. Jesus did many miracles by faith. Even today our best genious cannot duplicate them. But Jesus said you will do even greater things than He did.

The concept of the sky unfolding like a scroll....

The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places" Revelation 6:14

The String Theory that scientists are working through now that describes the heavens as 10-26 dimensions that are rolled up like a scroll...

The concept of human cloning....

He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed." Rev 13:15

'Of the day'? And what day would that be? Fact is the bible has been translated, re-written, editted over and over again so exactly what 'day' are you asking about?

They'd never seen anyone do miracles (until Jesus and
his Apostles). They couldn't understand that Jesus was not
going to be their King at that time, but would be hung on a
cross to die. They wouldn't hardly believe Jesus rose from
the tomb, alive again, until they saw the nailprints in His
hands. This was all new to them and hard for them to
understand. The Jews still don't believe Jesus was the
Messiah that was talked about in the Old Testament. They
are still waiting for their King.
