I hear a lot of negative comments about people immagrating to the UK, however, who actually is personally affected by this? If possible, describe your experiences.. Now I'm not talking about taxes etc now, cos that's too broad.

Immigration in general... whatever you like. Please don't try and earn points without answering my question. it's pretty much open to interpretation.

Immigration has no effect upon me what-so-ever. I live in a cosmopolitan and multi-cultural city called London. The city was founded by the Romans about 2,000 years ago. In effect it was built by Italians, who imported hundreds of thousands of people from all over the Roman empire to populate both the city and the surrounding country.
In the 2nd century AD the Romans even brought in two Legions recruited from Ethiopia - they were stationed up in Yorkshire somewhere and that's why lots of folk living their today have African DNA.
We're all from somewhere else, even me with my Brythonic Celt ancestry, which according to modern DNA research means my mob arrived in UK about 10,000 to 12,000 years ago.
You just cannot run an island economy without importing new people on a constant and continuing basis. If not, we'd just stagnate and die out.
I've done my best over the years but there are still only about 3,000,000 Welsh living here in UK and probably a similar number of fellow Irish brothers and sisters. The Jocks too have done their best but without the importation of new folk we would be a small island full of small people doing small things.
Instead, we took on the world, built the world's biggest ever empire and as a result were the envy of the world and we remain thus today.
Don't believe me? Ask anyone who has come to live here from abroad. How come there are 500,000 Yanks living here in London? And, why ain't they going back home to the States? They have no plans ever to return. Ask Madonna!

I'm a Californian, not a Brit, but we have lots of immigration here, too.
I like the cosmopolitan air that legal immigration from all over the world gives my state, and particularly my home town of San Jose. I also like the vibrant economy that attracts those skilled immigrants - even if those immigrants are job competition, they also help keep companies in the area. 'Silicon Valley' is a major draw to employers, precisely because we have so many highly skilled potential employees, cutting off imigration would cause wages to spike in the near term, but employers would quickly go overseas thereafter.
Illegal immigration is another matter, here. Illegal immigrants come overwhelmingly from a few nations, in one or two regions, and are actually bad for diversity, as well as public safety (and even national security), and they overburden many public systems (infrastructure, state social programs, schools, etc). Plus, of course, they're flaunting the law, which is never good for a society.

The problem arises because of the Type of Immigrants that are coming in. Decent ones and the average kind of individual would not bother anyone, but we are getting the DREGS too . The ones who are coming in with the declared policies of causing Harm and Unrest in the UK. Britain is they feel a new area to exploit for their own nasty ends.

Apart from the lady who works in pharmacy and the gentleman who moved out of his town no one else has even tried to answer the exact question: what is your PERSONAL experience with immigrants/immigration? Some **** from Daily Mail or other tabloids, that is all you said. Difficulties with reading AND understanding, or shortage of brightness?

I work at a bank... THere are illegals that try to cash their paychecks at our bank. When we ask for ID , they dont have any, and they jump in their car and drive away.?
I have a farmer customer who hired 2 mexicans... after about 6 months on the job they asked for a car, the farmer bought them a cheaper car, and a couple of weeks later the 2 mexicans left in the car and never came back, (yes they stole the car)
THere was an accident close to where I live, the driver was going 75 in a 35 mph zone and lost control. The car rolled, clipped 3 telephone posts off, the engine was 100 yds from the rest of the car, the car wasn't insured or registered, and the illegal alien driver was killed. (luckily no-one else was hurt)

I am in the US and my husband is from Mexico. We filed for his papers and now we are waiting on his appointment.
It has been hard and extremely stressful! Everyday has been a struggle, but we have been strong. Several people have said I am wrong for marrying him but I love him for all he is and all he is not. I think if all the hate filled anti-illegals had to be put in the illegals shoes they would think differently.

Its a changing society, but there are enclaves of 1950's Britain still around if thats your type of thing.
Everything changes, even the places I knew 10 years ago are either gone or rennovated
You just have to go with it.
Im my personal experience, never try to out drink a Pole with straight Vodka, you will come off worse!

It doesn't effect me in person. (I never know if its effect or affect...) it's just the newspapers you read really that tell you about others experiance and its the pc stuff going on. But for me personaly I've never had any complaints with immigration.
(apart from when people of a different race say that everything that goes wrong for them is because of racism - I've come across plenty of them. But that isn't really anything to do with immigration... or is it?)

I work in a pharmacy and need to be able to communiicate with people when they want medicine. Its impossible to know what someone is talking about when they come in and just point at their stomach! I need to know their history, if they are taking any other medicines, what type of pain it is, how long they have had it, etc etc.
I cannot help these people who dont speak any english, pointing at any part of the body does not convey to me what the problem is exactly and could be so many different things, so I find it frustrating when they come in and cannot speak english.
Also they expect all medicine to be free - even the 25 pence pack of paracetamol you can buy over the counter. The only words they say to me is 'asylum' and 'free - no pay' and they waive their little Asylum Seeker Identification at me and its very hard to explain to them that not everything is free just because its a pharmacy.
Also, they all get free prescriptions, which is extremely frustrating when british people have paid into the system for many years, I get a lo of complaints from customers moaning that they have to pay for theirs, but foreigners get it free.
I spend half my day frantically trying to communicate through sign language, and the other half fending off angry brits!
