I think that taking your pet cockatiel to the vet would be an unnecessary expense when you can treat the bird at home. They can do just as much as you can for bleeding injuries. If it has stopped bleeding, I'd leave it alone as to not rupture the scab and start bleeding again. You could dab it with a little hydrogen peroxide solution but being careful not to swipe it too hard, just dab it gently.

Why is it bleeding? If it's a broken blood feather, you should apply a small dab of Syptic Powder to the bleeding to cogulate it, or Flour, if you don't have syptic powder. And you should bring him to the vet if this is the case, since plucking the feather out yourself can do more damage than good if you do it wrong. You could quite easily just break the feather shaft underneath the skin, causing SO many more problems. You should be experienced before you try anything like that.

The best thing to do is to pluck the feather out! Use some tweezers and support the wing then give it a good tug! It will grow another feather soon!

Call your feed and pet stores to find some Terramyacin. It is very inexpensive. If you see signs of infection, add a tiny pinch to the bird's water to make it turn slightly yellow, continuing for 3 weeks.

Um, Avian Vet straight away! Birds have very little blood and it could kill your 'Teil even if little blood is lost!

Get an anti-biotic from the vet to PREVENT infection.
