It seems unlikely to me that they would want to throw the first punch - that they would lose the world's sympathy possibley their allies Russia and China

That they would risk a full on assault by the US and that would increase dramatically thes risk of a nuclear missle in downtown Tehran

To me they seem to have everything to lose and nothing to gain

If they declare war - they may hope to bring Russia or China into the fold at least to provied a full on economic war if not a military one- unite the Arabs -

They may declare a war with Israel -- a US Iranian proxy war

The USA seems to be doing all it can to provoke them though. Just like the classic bully it is, pushing and prodding the little guy to try to shame him into some desperate act of face saving self defence so the bully has an excuse to destroy the victim and take over control of his assets.

The US has done an amazing propaganda job to actually have people even discussing a possible nuclear threat from Iran to Israel when you consider that Iran has no nuclear technology at all, that its stated ambition is only to own nuclear power stations and it has stated that it has no intention to develop nuclear weapons technology. The fact that if it did ever develop nuclear weapons technology it would still be in the deterent position of risking being nuked by Israel which already does have nukes.

Good question. Yes, Iran does pose a threat to the United States. Iran funds Al Quida and other anti-US terrorist organizations which have attempted to attack US troops or the US homeland. Furthermore, Iran has started a nuclear weapons program. Now, I don't mind if they nuke France, but why attack their top ally. The UN will fail to take action, and America will be wiped off the face of the Earth.

As we found out 6 years ago, any international terrorist group can become a threat inside the USA,

And if you stop to think about it Iran committed its first act of war against the USA in 1979 with the taking of our diplomats and troops as hostages.

Will they commit other acts of war? They already have and we are doing nothing because too many Americans are afraid of beginning another senseless war.

I believe all wars are senseless, I pray we never see another war ,anywhere; But as a retired soldier and a realist, We are at war with Iran already, As they are training and supplying troops in Iraq to attack US soldiers there.

Iranians are NOT Arabs. They are Persians. In fact, historical and currently, Arabs and Persians don't exactly have a lot of love for each other. Bear in mind that most Persians are Shi'ite, whereas most Arabs are Sunni... that just adds more fuel to the fire.

They will not declare war with Israel, nor will they nuke Israel (why would a country commit suicide?), and for anyone who says they are already killing U.S. troops in Iraq I want to see proof of this. We made this mistake already let's not repeat it. Just because your TV tells you this does not mean it's true. This is called propaganda and too bad most people are buying it.

BTW proof is not someone's blog. Peace

>>>ooo, head spinning, must sit down.<<< OMG, i'm agreeing with timberstone. what is up with that? but, this is the best answer he's ever had. i know a few iranian people here in the us, and i think they would agree as well.

this conflict is not between our two peoples, but rather our two governments, neither well liked by the citizens.

I believe that any Iranian who comes to this country would be more tempted to stay and become an American rather than become a hidden terrorist in this country.

Yes. So I think United States should beat on Iran next. Anyone who holds a threat should take the good ol American beating in my opinion.
