I stutter, also. I can't afford going to a speech therapist, but before I speak, I slowly say the first letter and then continue my speech. That has helped me a lot. And also, try to have an idea of what you'll say before you speak and repeat it quickly in your head and say the first few words in your head. But if you can afford going to a speech therapist, go right ahead and I wish the best of luck to you.

Are you seeing a speech pathologist? How long have you been stuttering? (since you started speaking, or recently???)
You need to be evaluated by a speech therapist. I worked with a 14 year old boy that stuttered, it took a few months and it helped out a lot. I don't know of any surgery, but I know there is hope, you need to see a speech pathologist though! good luck, you can do it!!!

Welcome to the club!
(we'll teach you the secret hand shake later)!
Sorry, but stuttering isn't something you can fix with surgery.
Years ago,I heard of a method that used a static like sound,so you don't hear yourself talking. Some people have tried singing their way through a conversation.(haven't gone that far ...yet). Others have tried different accents. Thing is you're trying concentrate on something other than what you are going to say! I used to think it was associated with my Cerebral Palsy!
Talk with your family doctor. Maybe they know a good speech therapist who knows of some new methods!
I do wish you luck!

No surgery for the stutterer, but there are things you can do to help yourself. "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" was the book that helped several of my uncles and cousins who stuttered and couldn't afford to go to a therapist who specialized in treating stuttering. It is online here http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/TherapyWWW/selftherapy.html
Indevus is doing trials for the drug Pagoclone. You can sign up for Phase III here http://www.indevus.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=53&Itemid=58

gentle stuttering is customarily not a reason to have an iep. this is considered scientific and the child might obtain outpatient speech scientific care. If the child had cerebral palsy and stuttering it quite is a various questions.
