Our *perils* are the precious truths God has given us ~ and their not to be shared with everyone ~ this is where wisdom is needed. I think the text says something like "don't cast your perils before swine, lest they turn and trample them" ~ i'll go and check...yes and Jesus goes on to say the dogs will turn and tear you to pieces ~ dogs ran in packs at that time, unlike the family pets we know today.

Evangelising is when God anoints a person to preach His word in order to see souls saved and in the Kingdom of the Lord God ~ to know for sure that ones eternity will be with the God of all creation.
I don't see many Evangelists on here ~ most of us are just answering questions from our own experiences ~ or referring to scripture if asked or required.

I think casting pearls before swine is not giving wisdom to those who will not understand it. It demeans the wisdom and sacredness of such words. If you evangelize you may or may not be doing this, depending on your audience. Perhaps it is often better to pray in silence for someones redemption, than try to redeem that person with quotes. If you wish to feel that people are turning away from your religious view because of Satan and not some flaw of your own understanding, be prepared to be an ineffectual shepherd.

What people who pontificate don't understand, is that unless they're preaching to the choir...most likely they're only being annoying. What I mean is...if I don't believe in Islam (just an example) and some Islamic 'evangelist' (for lack of a better term) starts Koran banging...I'm A) going to be irritated, B) not going to be converted by someone DEMANDING that I do so and C) form lasting negative opinions about Islamic evangelists. In that person's eyes...I would be the swine because I wouldn't be joining them any time soon. Just because people don't jump out of the woodwork, claiming to have seen the light when someone here (on TV or in the streets) starts preaching...it's not very Christian to assume they're the 'swine'. It just means that they don't appreciate you tossing your pearls at them. They probably have pearls of their very own and don't appreciate it when someone tells them THEIR pearls are fake. You have to ask yourself...would YOU change your beliefs if someone told you to?

There are people who ask honest questions on R&S about the bible, or Jesus, or God. Answering from scripture is a good thing to do, it is being direct and honest in return.
There are people on R&S who ask snide questions just to ridicule Christians or what Christians believe. Not really interested in an answer. Those are the "casting pearls before swine" questions.

ITs no longer as confusing because it style of feels. Paul is a robust occasion of the two those statements. Paul traveled in each and each place to "scatter seed". while Paul grew to become into in Egypt, he scattered seed for an prolonged on a similar time as, yet at last observed that his efforts have been in ineffective, so he dusted off the backside of his feet and headed for different components the place his message may be heard and felt and lived. scattering seeds is robust everywhere, staying long once you realize that they have not taken root is once you realize which you're casting the pearls till now swine. How do you realize while one turns into the different? Your coronary heart assist you to appreciate.

Evangelising is trying to convert by words, not actions, which is why I have no truck with it. For that reason, to me, Mother Teresa is worth a million Billy Grahams or Pat Robertsons.
"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."(James 2:14-17).
As to 'casting your pearls before swine' - this has naught to do with preaching. It means do not lay out that which is precious to you before those who can not appreciate it.

When sharing with a group, you can never be sure who is the swine and who are not. The only thing you can do is put it out there for those who actually care to take hold of it.
Those passages refer more to trying to force info on people who don't want it. If people don't want the information on here, they can just close out the question.

Jesus replied to the woman at the table who asked for healing for her child. His miracle healing was not for unbelievers. But the woman replied that even the dogs eat the crumbs from the table. So even unbelievers can be fed if they choose to eat by faith. It is true that swine disrespect the Word of God and His judgements are reserved for those who trample on His mercies. Yet Jesus himself preached in public, even as Judas watched on. And Paul did the same in his travels and suffered persecution. The gospel was intended to be shared with unbelievers. Your personal testimonies are precious pearls. Jesus dying on the cross was precious and yet we share that with unbelievers. Your question is valid and provokes thought. Good job.

Casting your pearls before swine in my personal view is casting those things which are held in the common view or in your own view as sacred, before those who would scoff, belittle, or ridicule them. Evangelism is the practice of actively seeking new converts so casting your pearls before swine while seeking new converts would be things such as bible bashing, or arguing the bible or other scripture with those who would seek to demean or diminish them. As well as casting personal revelations before those whom you know would ridicule them. In the LDS religion, missionaries are taught to rely on the spirit or holy ghost to know who they should preach to. In that aspect it's up to personal judgement as to who is the swine, and what your pearls are.

I believe that evangelizing is when you are talking to somebody that is hungry or wants to hear about what you have to say. The pearls before swine I think is when somebody has no interest or desire/hunger to hear what you have to say. You just have to learn to be able to tell the difference....
