It does sound like the tail is broken, and I would have it checked out by a vet. The tail is an extension of the cat's spinal column, too, so it's a painful part to injure. I had a cat with the same symptoms and ignored them, until it got very serious. The hair started coming off the tail, besides being very painful, with a lump. When the vet examined the cat, I could see that the tail was badly infected, and he did an amputation of the tail to save the cat's life. The cat's recovery was difficult, too, due to real and phantom pain...just like people with amputation. I would never ignore a tail injury now , and I would advise you not to, either!!

That much pain I'd say would indicate that the tail is broken. It will be extremely painful for the cat if you do nothing about it. If it heals wrong, it could pain him the rest of his life, since there are nerves running down both sides of the bones. Please get a vet to look at it and see what can be done. You need to watch your feet better. This is a serious injury for a cat.

I would say that his tail is broken. You should take him to the vet for sure just to be safe. My cat is a foot cat also and I step on him all the time.

Without doubt, this cats tail is broken. Take it to the vet, although there is very little a vet can do to mend a broken tail. In the long-term it may have to be amputated. And, for Gods sake, try not to stand on it again.

If he in basic terms meowed as quickly as i'm confident he's nice. i've got stepped on my cat's tail by potential of accident and he or she yowled and ran, yet she substitute into ok. I doubt that he'd enable you place ice on his tail - a minimum of for terribly long and he may be greater dissatisfied from that than the stepping. wish he does not carry a grudge!

it could be broken or sprained - a vet can tell the difference with an examination; we obviously can't tell over the internet. a quick trip to the vet would mean they can tell what's wrong, maybe wrap it up for better support while it's healing (it might heal faster that way?), and give you some meds for reducing the swelling and managing the pain.

What is funny about it is there is no puss coming out of the pussy cat. Seriously , you broke the tail but it will heal itself. Wouldn't you howl too if someone kept touching a broken part of your body. The cats tail is not life threatening, so just be careful next time.

Got to the vet and have them treat the tail. If the cat's tail is swelling it could mean vascular problems that could lead to serious health issues if you don't get it treated. Get him to the vet asap as he is obviously in pain.

To me it sounds like it is broken, of course I'm not a vet though. You might want to get it checked out just to make sure everything is ok!
