Yes. 77% (as of 2001) of the US is Christian. Unfortunately, this majority turns what was founded as a democracy, with a separated church and state, into a theocracy. Politicians claim Christianity to get votes, and Christian beliefs become laws (like banning gay marriage, etc). This country was not meant to be like this, but sadly it is.

We are not a Theocracy. Our laws are not based on ANY religion nor religious ideas. We are a Secular country of which one of our main laws is Freedom (of Religion and Speech). If were based on any Mainstream Religion, these Freedoms would not be there.
For more info look up the Constitution of the United States and the Treaty of Tripoli.

Selena: "God Bless America" is a song. It's not endorsed by the US government. Swearing on the Bible is a voluntary activity and many courts no longer practice this. "...under God..." was added to the (unconstitutional) Pledge of Allegiance by religious fundamentalists to distinguish us from the Soviets.

Although technically its not a Christian country, Christian values and ideals are Incorporated into the system. For example: "God bless America" and "under God" and swearing on the bible in court. Also every president we've had has been Christian.

Nope we are secular and humanistic. The Treaty of Tripoli section 11 pretty much cleared that up.

Yes, in the sense that most Americans are Christians.
No, in the sense that our government wasn't founded on the Bible.

That depends who you're asking. i.e. Selena here reckons 'every president was a Christian'. So there is her 'truth', and then there is history's truth. Which do you choose to listen to?
