yes it is, it is being used at a faster rate than it is being created, but the whole oil industry is a 'fake' industry as there are alternative power sources which are subdued by the leading governments, ethanol is a viable alternative to petrol and is created entirely from crops, crops which can be entirely produced in '3rd world' countries, the reason the production of ethanol is subdued is to do with world wealth and control, because if petrol was obsolete overnight, then the entire arab economy would collapse, and as the arab economy is a massive contributor to world economy, there would be a global shift in the way the wealth is created and distributed. Wealth in it's most simple form is a control method for the vast population of the world.

We have been depleting the world's stock of oil coal and natural gas(used for fuel and plastics) ever since we started extracting it because the geological conditions in which it was created were over long before man existed. We now know so much about the world's geology that we have found all the easily extracted fossil fuels and are now beginning to extract from the more difficult and hence more expensive reserves such as deep sea, oil sands and arctic. We are also resorting to energy crops which are going to be another expensive source and will also result in food price increases. The economic and political problems that will be caused by fossil fuel shortages are so hideous to contemplate that we need to stop wasting it immediately. These resources are too valuable to burn.

They have been saying this for years. The americans think so,that is why they are not using their oil reserves. They think they will use everybody else's up first, and not bother paying high prices. So when the major oil producers, run dry in the next 20yrs.They believe the oil under america is still there, little do they know is that the oil fields are like oceans,if you pump out everything from one spot, this is also draining your oil reserves.ANYWAY don't worry they could make car fuel out of water. That was known in the forties.

Its not even close to running out. The tar sands in Alberta have more oil than Saudi Arabia, China and Siberia still have vast deposits of fossil fuels awaiting development, and global warming is opening the arctic ocean to exploration.

Since it is being used up much faster than it is being produced, the simple answer is "yes". But, we will not run out for a very long time, so I wouldn't worry about it.
