I put windows vista on my comp, it won't work now, help!!?

My computer is just a year old and I had windows mill on it.

About a month ago I put windows vista on it, my boyfriend had the software from his new laptop. I wanted to try it on my comp. It worked okay for a while but not as good as it did. Anyways I didnt enter a serial number, and so now the computer won't work hardly at all.

It says I need to activate it by purchasing the prog online which is like $449!!

I can't even get into my computer desktop or start menu, it will only let me browse the net?

help!!!

You'll have to format the computer and install windows millenium or XP from disc. If you don't have any of these you'll have to purchase one. If your computer is brand name..It should come with some restore software that should revert it back to it's default state.

If you don't have that anymore...You're out of luck. Call the company that manufactured your computer. Tell them you've lost your disc and the model number. They'll probably charge you anywhere between 10-50 for replacement discs....

If you had a custom setup with your own official windows millenium cd and cd key...Just use that to install..If you've lost both of these..you are COMPLETELY out of luck and will have to rebuy an operating system....

His laptop version of Vista ONLY works properly on his PC.

How did you get a year old PC with Windows Me (if that's what you mean by:windows mill) on it? It should have had XP on it.

Re-install your old OS, whatever it is. If you want Vista, buy a real Disk.

MS has this thing about stealing, so if you dont put in a serial number and activate the program, it will stop working!! If you dont want to buy the program, you are going to have re-format and re-install your old program... good luck.
