I have a cross eyed kitty...she's tortie and Russian blue...and she's not mean at all. The only issue I've run into so far is that she gets really skittish when you try to pick her up, especially on stairs when you're up real high...but when I got her they said that's cuz she gets disoriented since she's cross eyed and as long as you're careful and hold her real close, she's usually ok. But if she does get a little too freaked out, she tries to scratch and get down, which might be why your dad thinks they're mean.

If someone has an eye problem, they have an eye problem - it doesn't affect their personality(??) and it's the same with cats. Unfortunately cats don't have the option of wearing glasses to correct a squint/cross-eyed. But that doesn't make them mean or crazy any more than it would a human. I'm sure they are very lovely and gorgeous, as their chart and your own experience with them has shown.

only cross-eyed cat I know well is one my parents have had for 8 years: she's about the sweetest thing going - when the boy cats pick on her, she'll stand up for herself sometimes, but she never fights hard enough to stop the boys from bugging her, so someone else has to break it up for her
and I've worked in an animal hospital, where I've heard a lot of the stereotypes, and even seen animals who've made me understand where the stereotypes came from, and I've never heard anything about cross-eyed cats being mean

Are Cross eyed people mean? Don't judge a book by it's cover! I think your dad thinks they are cursed by witch craft but that is not true. I would LOVE to volunteer and need community service hrs. If you are 18 or older and do not live with your dad then maybe you can adopt one. Please E-mail me w/ info on how to get involved with animal shelters and or the Humane Society.
