I hallucinated a spider last night. When I saw it, It startled me, and I went to smash it with something, and when I tried to it was still crawling, but it looked like it was gradually fading. I tried to touch it, but I didn't feel anything. Finally, it just faded away, and that's a hallucination, right? It was around when I go to bed but I wasn't exhausted or anything. Is it something I should be worried about?

If it just seemed to kind of disappear then it probably was a hallucination. Were you sleepy at the time? Hypnagogic hallucinations are common and normal. They occur at the time you're about to go to sleep. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have persistent hallucinations. Even healthy people can have a hallucination once in a while.

An hallucination is a "voice" or an "apparition" that occurs to you but can't be seen by anyone else. I am a schizophrenic paranoid and have had both these types of hallucinations. The trouble with your hallucination is that there was no one else around to verify that it (the spider) wasn't visible to them. That you were just swatting at thin air Most of my hallucinations have been like that too with the exception of two or three times another person heard a radio come on with no one near it which had been happening to me over and over again.

This fact that another person heard the "hallucination" along with me makes me wonder whether "hallucinations" are not really something real. I would not worry about it but I would not pass it off as something that didn't happen either but remember it and the details of it (write it down) in case something like that happens again..

I am very interested in getting to the cause of "hallucinations" and for many reasons can not believe they are just the result of a sick malfunctioning mind. I have been trained as a scientist so know that things can't appear suddenly or sounds occur with out a cause or disappear without a trace. If they appear to do this to individuals there has to be a cause either in the mind or due to some unknown cause. If it is all in the mind then there has to be an explainable cause there too.

Good luck with your "hallucination(s)," good mental health, peace and Love!

Yes, that is a hallucination. What is causing it could be several things. I strongly suggest you see your dr and tell him or her about it. Good luck.

That is really weird, I think it would depend on whether you have had any other hallucinations. Hopefully you aren't taking any drugs!
