I think he is fine. My son did not speak very well until 2 1/2. Wait until he is closer to 3 to worry about speach problems. Had I not been through this already I would be antsy about my 20 month old that does not do much talking but I realize that hey go on their own time.

We thought my nephew had a speech problem because at two years of age he was just saying random sounds and not words. Turns out he was a late bloomer and now he's three and we can't get him to shut up EVER. Just last night I took him to BK to play in the jungle gym and I asked him what he wanted to eat and he said "Auntie Brittany, I'd like a porkchop and cake sandwich with three bananas." I got him chicken nuggets lol.

2 is a cute age like you said for funky words. I think it's normal because I have two kids but if you want to encourage him along a little....just pronounce it correctly after he says something wrong and make him repeat it. Hearing you saying it right goes a long way in their brains.

It's not likely that he has a problem. Just work with him at home. Leap Frog has a game called Word Jammer. The letters are magnatized and when placed in the tray they sound out how the letter is pronounced. When a word is spelled out it says how it sounds

I'm 13; I know I;ve never had a kid but i have 4 YOUNGER siblings and the youngest is 11 MONTHS.

But my 3 year old brother does something like that... We just correct him saying something like... "No Dylan It's DADDY not DADDYN. Now you try to say it" And when he says it right we give him a High five, or "Knuckles"

At 2 it's still kinda early to tell. My nephew will be 3 in Feb and he still doesn't speak "words" well never mind sentences.

awww little cutie I cant wait to have my second baby. I love the little sweet voices. I think your little one is fine he will grow out of it. If it continues and your worries don't dissolve ask your pediatrician on your next appointment.

I doubt it. My son is almost four, when he started talking he said weird things like that too...he doesn't have any problems with speech now. He will most likely grow out of it.
