If He did, the why does THE BIBLE say:
2 Thessalonians 2:15 - "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us."
1 Corinthians 11:2 - "Now I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you."
The Point:
Pharisees' false traditions = BAD
Apostolic (i.e. Catholic) traditions = GOOD
Pharisee = BAD , Catholic = GOOD , Pharisee = BAD , Catholic = GOOD , Pharisee = BAD , Catholic = GOOD ,
Get it Fundies? Or are you going to deny the WORD OF GOD?

Swiss Guard, you are right but unfortunately they choose not to get it.
Some of the answers are just dead wrong and yet they seem to feel justified in their erroneous perspective. Amazing as always.
Bottom line is: Jesus Christ gave the Church the authority...not men nor a man. Jesus Christ...God...gave the Church authority and he told Peter to "feed my sheep." And that is what Peter (and the office of Peter) has been doing ever since.
Fundamentalists...you really need to pull yourself away from the Bible being the ultimate and/or only authority. The Bible itself does not say it is the only authority. Remember that when Paul was writing and the Gospels were written...Christianity had already been around for many decades. How were those Christians following Christ? How were they worshiping? What were they doing? They were relying on oral tradition.

SInce Paul was Jewish, and not Catholic, I'd say it's pretty reasonable to assume the traditions he spoke of had NOTHING to do with Rome. Paul was speaking specifically of those "Jewish" (read BIBLICAL, not PHARISITICAL) traditions that point directly to the Him - Messiah of Israel and Savior of the world.

I think you missed the train on this one...
Pharisees = Traditions of men = bad
Cathololics = New and Improved Traditions of men = bad
Apostles = Traditions of God = Good
Therefore... Catholics = Pharisees
Don't believe me? What about these prophecies...
2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Sounds like the early Christian church was on the road to apostasy, and the FORSAKING of the traditions of Christ, and the acceptance of the traditions of men, chief of which was the introduction of the office of Pope... replacing Christ with a weak man... causing the church to "fall away" and the introduction into the dark ages.

Dear Swiss Cheese,
The old testament is part of the word of god, and is the 'tradition' that is being referred to. What you probably meant is:
Pope = BAD
Original church/temple = Good

Uh no, NOW you've done it. Now they have to remove Paul's books too, to make Christianity conform to their wishes...kind of like how Martin Luther TRIED to remove Revelation...
=)
God bless

Why do you equate apostolic with (Roman) Catholic traditions? That's too big a jump for a conclusion. There's a BIG difference between the two! You don't know the difference, I bet.
