i have windows xp (not laptop) connected to a modem...... oh yea, from TIME WARNER. if more info is needed i'll add more details in here

No you can't have ps3 in your computer but you can watch time warner cable in you computer.

If u r plannin to get ur ps3 online in this way I wud tell u that I use a usb modem connected to the pc and then ps3 is connected with ethernet wire....I can share music and vid files that are supported and also internet...So if u r plannin to play online in this way it will surely work....Just go to the properties of the internet connection that u use to connect ur pc and share the net on lan...This will let ps3 use it...hope this is enuff.

Buy a Category 6 cable from Radio Shack, run it thru a surge protection coupler and then plug it into the ethernet port on the router uplink

You'll need a router. Than you can establish Media Server connection to play multimedia files from your PC on PS3. You'll need Windows media player 11 or Tversity. I don't know about WBTV functions. though.

You need the hardrive and modem if you plan to do anything with it.... o_O
