Yes, and some people like me, are so allergic that I can't even eat something fried in the same oil as clams or other shellfish.

Yes, some people are very allergic. It is very dangerous for some people to eat seafood. It is rare though.
Also, there is mercury in seafood. Larger fish have more mercury than smaller ones. Pregnant women and small children should only eat an occasional amount of small fish- no big fish. Mercury is very harmful to the brain and nervous system. It is best to avoid big fish entirely and to only consume occasional small fish to avoid mercury poisoning.

Most foods are harmful to someone if they have an allergy to it. However, like peanuts, seafood seems to be one of those foods that causes a severe allergic reaction even if only a teeny amount is eaten.

yes! always make sure when inviting people over to eat to ask about allergies.
At one restaurant I was working as the chef a person touched shrimp ( she was cleaning them) and within one minute she was blistering ,and her throat was closing. She was having trouble breathing. We called an ambulance. she was alright and recovered.
She never even knew she had an allergy.
THIS IS SCARY STUFF.
I know some people that are allergic to shellfish.
So be very careful.

im allergic to all shellfish! i come out in a very red rash all over thats incredibly itchy which is really nasty and lasts for about a day then disapears!

a lot of people are allergic to any sea food prawns, shrimps, or any of these creatures like these because with being on the bottom of the sea they take in a lot of toxins. i also have allergy's to food including beer, chocolate,nuts.
