Most of us in the auto business would agree that buying a 'slightly' used car, that is still covered under the original manufacturers warranty, is the best value.

Buying one that is brand new means that YOU will take the biggest depreciation 'hit'.
Buying one that is too old means that you are sure to incur higher maintenance & repair costs.

Generally, it's best to buy a car that's slightly used. Anything that's been turned in from a lease is good for this. They still have the factory warrantee, have LOTS of life still in them, are past any teething problems, and you don't have to take the depreciation losses of buying new.

I bought an '01 Focus at the end of '02. It had 34,000 miles, full warrantee, half the price of a new one ($7,500 instead of $14,000.)

Good luck!

You should buy a first hand, more expensive but with warranty and other bonus, plus You will learn difference between new and pre owned cars.
