If someone published a fictional novel that was about a utopian Christian society recovering from a period of time where a brutal dictator outlawed religion of all kinds, would you protest this book?

So we have those with common sense. Thanks y'all- its the exact same answers I get from the Christians.

A. Mercer- activate your email and I'll give you all the info you need.

The comparison questions on answers didn't start to vary until I asked about Narnia/Compass.

All of the atheists said they would either watch it or wouldn't watch it due to non-religious reasons.

There were some Christians who WOULD watch Compass, but others who would NOT watch it due to religious reasons.

I'm looking for answers in the answers community- not real life.

Mercer- for the sheer sake of humoring you: here you go. I wanted you to email me because I had no intention of coming back to this question until I rewarded the 10 points.

No. I just wouldn't read it...

No. It would be a form of fiction. Some people would read it and others would not.

I do not protest books because I disagree with their subject. I do not protect books at all. If you like a book then great. Have at it. Read it a dozen times. If I don't like it, I won't read it.

Now, what is interesting is all of the christians who protested against all sorts of books. I remember the crowd protesting against the Harry Potter books saying that it promoted witchcraft.

Excuse me. You said you got the same answer from christians? Can you give a link to that question so we can read the answers? Remember, I gave one example of christians protesting books. I can give others. Can you give me examples of atheists protesting books?

This is a public forum. Make the link public. Why do you want to keep it private from everyone else on here? If you have a link, post it. Simple as that. There is no reason to email it to me unless you are wanting to hide it from everyone else.

No-why would anyone protest a fictional novel. Fictional novels are written purely for entertainment.

Nope.

I'd probably read it as long as it wasn't a thinly veiled sermon and it really was about all religions, not just Christianity, being outlawed and whatnot. I like post apocalyptic stuff like that.

Does the book authors also try to indoctrinate the young and scare their readers into believing nonsense?

Or is it just a book, written by people?

nope I would read it and study it

why should I protest something someone else believes in, in the first place?

everyone is free to hold their own opinion on everything and those that think differently are morons

I would never protest any book. I support the First Amendment.

No, as much as I loathe anything Christian, but not the people themselves, I still believe in freedom of religion.

Being a Atheist is simply not believing in god. There will be not point to protesting something that is not real. Atheists are not god haters.

Not as long as it wasn't passed off as a non-fiction or science book.
