What is the true meaning of Christmas to you? Where do you get your ideas?

Do you just celebrate according to the way the majority of the population does, it? Have you ever actually looked into the origin?

I did look into its origins when i was a teenager, but it took me actually over 7 years to break free from it.

I just could not drag the Lord into something that was not of Him because I loved it so much. What i am saying is that I love the Lord more than I love myself.

So many cannot fathom that something so NICE could have its root in satan. Well.. He is a master deceiver.. and has successfully engaged and drugged the church into idolatary for centuries. This is the height of loving ourselves more than the Lord. We can say we love Him.. but asked to stop christmas and we cannot fathom it. Its hold on us is so strong.. stronger than the Lord's sober speaking i'm afraid

Its root is pagan mixed in with the catholic religion.
As christians we forsake many things that we inherited from our Catholic roots, but we will not shake this one and its sad.
We condemn the catholics from praying to mary or from believing that the pope is the vicar of Christ and so many other strange unbiblical teachings, YET we would hold fast to christmas because we love it so much.

The Lord, for centuries has been dragged into so many celebrations inorder to make us feel justified in celebrating it.
But i tell you sister.. I do not want to stand up before the Lord one day and say that i loved Christmas and forced this dear Lord to be a part of it because of my addiction to it.

Today I will pay the price and deny myself in order to be free of this satanic celebration.

Its one thing to not know the truth, but to know the truth as a christian and still partake of it is so sad and worse.. drag the Lord into it and put His name on it for our own loving of our soul life is worthy of our righteous judgement from the Lord Jesus.

I am afraid that many of us will be left right here to celebrate christmas after the Lord returns for His chaste spotless Bride.

Good courageous Question

Christmas, as is, the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ (even though he wasn't technically born in December according to the Bible, that's the date the church picked out as the celebration date). Christmas does have it's origins in the Yule celebration, however, Christmas alone is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Many Christian holidays have their origins in much more ancient earlier celebrations of pagan religions. The True Meaning has more to do with an individual perception, such as for me, it has to do with a time to spend with family, spreading the ideals of giving to the less fortunate and sharing. The basis for these beliefs come from my Christian background, and from the way my family has always celebrated Christmas.

Having owned a retail business for 14 years (back then it was quaintly called a "boutique"), I can tell you more than you care to know about the "spirit of Christmas." I witnessed it 12 hours a day during the season. Not a pretty picture either.

Without Christmas, retail business in the United States would be dead. That's not hyperbole...dead, bankrupt, closed down. That's what it's about. As a Christian I do not celebrate it, nor have I ever.

P.S. Anybody who says it's not pagan in origin is in serious denial.

It used to be a happy traditional festive celebrations in our family. It also served as a family reunion, gatherings of friends and relatives, preparation of gifts, abundance of holiday food on the table, setting up of Christmas tree and other decors around and outside the house, attendance of midnight mass and the endless singing and hearing of christmas carols. This has been one of our family traditions that's been celebrated more than a century already.
But it is a different scenario now.People are going, going and gone.Life is getting busier and harder than ever. The meaning of Christmas is getting less and family members are becoming indifferent .

The birth of Jesus. Some of the stuff associated with the Christmas holiday (i.e. Christmas trees) probably had a pagan origin.

I'm not religious, but I only celebrate it because I see it as a time to get together with family and friends.

The history of Christmas is pagan. It has become the time that I choose to celebrate the birth of Jesus..I know that Jesus was not born in the winter and all the yada yada..But it is the time that I choose, along with many other Christians, to celebrate all the good His birth brings. It is a time for ALL people to come together in peace and love, if only for a brief time. It holds great meaning, and memories to me.

Xmas was originally a Pagan holiday called Saturnalia. During this event, pagans observed "the birth of the new sun". In order to convert Pagans to christianity, Christians adopted the holiday as "christmas", or "the birth of the new son."

After guaranteeing Pagans if they converted that "nothing would change"...they'd still get to keep their celebrations, and celebrate as they wanted...within the christian guidelines...it made conversion of "on the fence" Pagans much easier....

Look it up...it's true....google it....

Christmas began as a Roman Catholic attempt to attract people away from pagan winter festival Saturnalia. For those who think Christmas is all about Jesus, I submit you don't know what you're talking about. This holiday is still full of drunken orgies, funny little feel good stories that have little if anything to do with real life, and ostentatious displays of earthly wealth. Jesus didn't come to earth to give us a holiday.

Some christians say it is a pagan holiday, but I don't care. I celebrate it for Jesus's birthday and the free presents. LOL. If you don't like it, fine. But I'm gonna celebrate me some CHRISTMAS. (But I think Santa should be shot for not giving me that Transformer bike I asked him for when I was 6)
