The Mormon extermination order was issued in Missouri and not Illinois- Governor Lilburn Boggs issued that order. As the Mormons were having problems in Illinois Joseph Smith and other church leaders sent The president a letter asking for help with their problems- many of which were starting with state governments. The President- I believe was Polk- Wrote back- "your cause is just but there is nothing I can do for you. He pretty well did not condone what was happening, but turned his back- he washed his hands of the entire situation- similar to Pilate when he gave the public what they wanted at the time of Jesus' death. He said that he did not agree, but that is what the public wanted.
As for Nazi Germany- that is very well documented.
I am not sure what the polygamy thing you are speaking of is, but if it is the modern day polygamists, then there is much more to that than polygamy in most cases. Most times there is physical and sexual abuse including forcing minor girls to marry creepy old men. Them being prosecuted for those crimes is not persecution- the things they are doing is wrong and they know it. Abuse should never be tolerated.

It Can Probably Not Be Something That We Have Inherited....Because Our Inheritance Consists Of Some Wrong Thoughts...Like Opposing The Birth Of A Girl Child And So On, Am Totally Not Against Our Indian Institution,Being An Indian I can Also Not Be. It Is Actually The Mindsets Of The People That Spoil Our Holy Institution. But The Actual Reasons, As To How The Indians Have Flourished To Such A Height Are Primarily: a) Our Tolerance Power; Yes, The Indians Today Living In The Prevailing Conditions Of Our Country Have Matured To Such A Height That Their Tolerance Power Can Surely Be Rated The Highest. b)The Second Reason Can ONLY Be The Little, But Yet Existing Goodness In The Hearts Of People. The Crime, Corruption, Poverty and so forth. Have Crushed So Many People, That Now There Are Only A Few Good People Left And That Also Only In A few Corners Of Our Countries, And THEY Are The Mean Support Due To Which Several Other Indians Are Inspired, Nourished And Led To A Successful Path In Their Lives. Yes, Our System Is Rated Corrupt At A Huge Scale, But In This Storm Of Corruption Did We Notice The Good And Efficient Workers, Still Serving Our Country? Some Of Us Didn't And Those Who Did Notice; Have SURELY Been Successful Indians, Because They Have A Patriotic Will In Their Hearts To Lead Our Very Own India To A Great Extent In This World....To Touch Up The Sky...Like No Other Country Did....

Since what seems like the beginning of time, one group has always attempted to become spiritually superior over another group through the use of violence and genocide. Highly ironic, don't you think?
My people, Wiccans/Pagans were slaughtered over the course of a 200 year period during the Inquisition. Numbers vary but this is sure. Not only was this an act of appalling genocide in the name of the Christian God, it was also an appalling act of misogynist genocide against women. The generally accepted number is, "80%" of the millions killed were women. Anecdotally, there was one German town where once the Inquisition motored through, it left only one woman alive.
This took place primarily in Europe but there were pockets, like Salem where the impact of the Inquisition was felt. Salem also involved women and young teenage girls.
Shameful.

Jews have been massacred, oppressed and/or expelled from just about every country they've ever lived in, some more than once (England comes to mind)...Jews were even expelled from Tennessee (or right after) during the Civil War.
The Romans were too kindly disposed to early Christians and Christians have had troubles elsewhere as well.
In short, just about every religion has, at some time or another, been the object of attempted genocide.

Boy, you don't know a whole lot about religious persecution, do you? Have you never heard of the early Christian martyrs who were tortured and killed by the Roman Empire? Or of the early Christians who were persecuted, jailed and stoned to death by the Jews, as recounted by St. Paul, who was one of the persecutors?
Then there were the laws in England outlawing Catholics from participating in Mass under threat of death, and the many martyrdoms of priests and others as a result, for refusing to submit to the law.
With regard to Mormons, I'm sure some were killed. But extermination orders? I find that hard to swallow. If there were such orders, why weren't they exterminated? Anyway, I would like to know your sources: If there was such a presidential order, where can I read it? Is it online, or in a book?

What about Irish Catholics? During the time of the famine in Ireland the Irish were not allowed to purchase land. They had little land to grow crops for their families as most of the crops were needed for paying rent. As a result they grew only potatoes- the most common subsistence crop. When the blight came laws were made to insure the Irish Catholics couldn't eat ( No fishing on ponds of the landowners, ie. all ponds, they were not allowed to own guns- so no hunting, illegal to teach them to read- so no better jobs elsewhere). These policies led to massive starvation in Ireland. Millions died as a result.

Agellius....here's a link. There was an extermination order issued by the governer of Missouri. And hundreds of Mormons were killed. Over ten thousand Mormons were forced out of Missouri.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extermination_Order_(Mormonism)
Read the part at the bottom about how and when it was rescinded and what was said when it was rescinded.

In the french alps my husbands ancestors hid because they were tying Christians hands and feet together and rolling them down the hill--slight lack of tolerance for those not like you, I'd say.
