Many people do want a fence or wall or something like that. We want something to be done to stop people from crossing the border illegally. Plain and simple. We don't all know the best solution, but we know what we want. So far it's not being done, so we keep demanding something.

Obviously you have never lived along the border. They have fences for cattle on ranches. Both sides do. Are you not aware of the fence INS is building? It's more like double walls twenty feet high with a patrol road between.

How do I know? I lived on the border in Nogales, AZ, Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and El Paso, TX.

Having a fence is a stupid idea. Why do you think we haven't built one in Canada to stop all Illegal US citizens coming to steal healthcare in our country, and now starting to work illegally in Canada ?? You made your own mess by not voting or voting wrong for the past three decades, tolerating trade deficits after trade deficits, are a country boosted by a falsely high money made possible through a pact between you and the OPEC, doing that you caused all wars and misery in the world... The richest country of the world and you still can't produce enough to match your imports ?? People start to realize how much the US is managed like it was the worst lazy third world country. You are proud of WHAT ???

No, it will just make would-be immigrants try different ways.

Unfortunately, you either need to reduce the desire to enter the country or make the cost too high. No, I am not advocating this, but it would certainly cut down on the problem: Shoot to kill.

Everyone who does this weighs the risk of getting caught and punishment vs. the reward. If you don't change the reward, you need to change the risk.

Personally, I think you're far better off with coming up with schemes for handling the tremendous influx of people and/or making it easier to live elsewhere than appearing here, but I know I'll be thoroughly booed for that.

Yea... right... That's about the looniest excuse for not building a fence... In fact many ranchers have problem with the fence because it prevents the cattle from having access to the Rio Grandee for water....

An electric fence like a bug zapper would be nice it could solve all problems except the taxpayers pocket issue.
Really the taxpayers shouldn't gripe.. think of all the money we pay in for welfare and social security that non paying non u.s. citizens get to come over and partake in. It could cut back on some that.

I am thinking a wall like china and land mines within the wall troops could stay and it would be a large functioning front, while we could have some areas used as a tourist attraction. Plus auto cannons to spray any that got thorw the mine field.

The second. Clearly. *Rolls eyes*

As if a fence is going to stop illegal immigrants when all our men and women to support the project are over in Iraq fighting a war that really is barely making any sense anymore. Pardon my rambling, but I don't see the point.

Fence? Please we need something similar to the Berlin Wall. It worked there why not here. Much less people escaping to be here when they see their brother dying from being shot by border guards after being warned to stop.
