About what we each believe? Do you not realize how foolish we all look especially to non Christians and non believers? They are having a field day with this. Shouldn't we be more focused on other things instead such as spreading the message that Jesus wanted us to share with others? Isn't God the only one who can truly judge any of us when it's all said and done? Shouldn't we also be showing people what a Christian is supposed to be? That's why I don't spend much time here to be quite honest with all of you.

Sometimes I think arguing over doctrine is a tool of the devil to divide us. However, I do believe these arguments come about because there are so many deviations from Biblical doctrine when it comes to Christian beliefs.

My Brother in Christ,
If only it were that simple. Each different branch of Christianity, for the most part, believes that only IT knows the true secret of being a disciple of Christ...and thus will go to Heaven. Therefore, all else must be....say it with me...damned!
So what does a good Christian do, when his supposed "brothers in Christ" are damned? He must save them! After all, that is what Jesus would do.

In America alone, there are over 10,000 denominations of Christianity. 10,000 different groups, each believing they are correct. At least 1,000 of these are some sort of Baptist.

This is why I am Catholic. Our faith is unchanged ever since it was founded...by Jesus, through His Apostle Peter. Sure, the ceremonies may change. The language may change. But the faith is ever unchanged.

Amen!

I am more concerned with people trying to mangle the gospel in order to promote their cults and in many cases i the name of Christianity. It is more prudent to be concerned with truth than how we appear to men. The apostle Paul argued daily in order to defend the gospel. Yes at times some of these arguments may seem trivial but what I think is worse is when people accuse others of being anti(insert group) simply because they disagree with them. That is a simplistic approach which is designed to silence dissenters. Truth isn't injured by honest enquiry and dialogue.

Then why are you here now? Some of us think this forum is a ministry in and of itself. One man's argument is another man's debate. Since win is the exchanging of ideas a "bad" thing? I agree that only God can truly judge, but the spreading of wisdom is important as long as it is done in a spirit of love.

well, there is no arguments amongst us Christians so much as this, there are plenty of arguments amongst the believers and non-believers.,so I can not say that I agree on this
a true christian will answer a question to his/her brethren who is in need, so in fact we are to spread the word, just not suppose to shove it down peoples throats

More than looking foolish to others, we are wasting precious time and spiritual energy.

I dream about all we could accomplish if we could put egos and semantic arguments aside long enough to find common ground and work for the peace Jesus wanted us to have.

Unfortunately, I've read fundamentalist protestants here who are very clear that they are the only ones who are "saved," and will not even consider opening discussions with any other person who doesn't agree with their opinions about God.

Sad, huh?
