You would burn more calories in ten miles however do you realize that would take like 3+ hours, if you jog 5 you can get it in an hour and your a lot less likely to get bored with it, you'll increase ur stamina better than walking so eventually you can jog a lot longer than 5 miles BUT also it should be noted that both will burn protien from your muscles, so you would lose muscle mass doing an aerobic activity for that long.

Also If you can handle it 40 mins of HIIT does a hell of a lot more then either of those two. However I can jog more than 5 miles and I can't do more then 25 minutes of it =/ but I just started it.

edit: yamking probably just copy and pasted something he writes a lot because yahoo awnsers is flooded with HOW can i lose weight?!?!?!!?

Why not mix n match....like walk 2 miles then jog 3 miles then walk 2, etc. Then swap around the next outing, i think that this would be far less boring.

walk 10 miles a day ,i just did it for 5 days in the grand canyon for charity it was great but i wouldn't have been able to jog that far. It did take me at least 2 hours each day though.
it cannot be good for your knee joints all that stress on them in jogging.

Jog 5. Walking does not get your metabolism up high enough to make a difference.

I walked daily, for 3 years, with NO change.

You don’t need to exercise for long periods of time. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results if you work hard. Get a bypassing rope, skip for two units, do push ups for 1 minute, skip for two minutes, rest for just one minute. Then change the push nearly something else like sit ups in addition to do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a rapid, effective workout that will progress results than a long function or swim.

Wow! Great question.
Both have their advantages. I'd think doing 2 of each every week would be the best.
Here are some good ideas:
1. Do something that gets your heart rate up a bit like, walking, running, biking, and swimming.
2. Eat Whole, Organic foods like: Broccoli, Cabbage, Organic Brown Rice, Beans, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Apples, and other fruits and vegetables in their Natural State.
3. Avoid eating corn, white bread, white rice, candy, sodas, chips, and anything else that you already know you shouldn’t be eating.
4. Drink clean water as your beverage of choice. Avoid Fruit drinks and fruit juices (unless YOU juice them yourself)
5. Stop smoking, drinking beer & wine, and drinking coffee.
6. Get 8 hours of sleep each night.
7. Hang out with people who want to be healthy.
8. Avoid anything with High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Tone up the muscles:

1. Join a gym and get a trainer.
2. If you’re short on cash, start a light stretching & yoga regimen.
3. Do push-ups, and light dumbbell curls for the upper body.
4. As I said above, walk, run, swim, and or bike
5. Take an aerobics class, a yoga class, or some other fitness class.
6. Join the local YMCA..

Mental Health:

1. Get a friend to talk to each day about your feelings.
2. If you have some money or insurance, get a counselor to talk to.
3. Learn how to meditate.
4. Join a support group for the issue you’re dealing with.
5. Ask your Higher Self (or God) for guidance.
6. Start keeping a diary or journal about your feelings & thoughts.
7. Write a ‘gratitude’ list every night.
8. Do something that makes you happy each day like: listen to your favorite music, draw, paint, write, or anything creative.
9. Do something for someone else who needs help.

Go for protein instead of sugar to keep energy levels going strong as opposed to crashing. Edamame in pods may be the perfect snack since it takes some time to eat and a one-cup providing offers 12 grams of protein.

Keep a food diary. Seeing every morsel of food you’ve eaten in a day written down can provide help to see where you’re overdoing the idea, or reveal patterns or triggers to bad eating habits.
