No, that's why they are called two different things! A jelly roll pan has small sides on it so you can bake a thin cake.

a jelly roll pan has higher sides and the corners are square as are the sides. You can use a cookie sheet if you need to but if you are only making the recipe one or two times don't bother buying one. If you plan on using the jelly roll pan more than just a few times invest in the pan it will be worth it.

sort of. a jelly roll pan has sides so that the batter doesn't run off the side. A cookie sheet may or may not have the sides on it. I use half sheet jelly roll pans for all my baking cookies, etc.

As long as it has edges on it that are about an inch tall, it is technically a jelly roll pan. If it doesn't have edges and it is flat, it is a cookie sheet.

Jelly roll pan has higher sides, about 1/2 inch.

I think so..the sides may be a bit higher on the roll pan. But, you can use a cookie sheet. I do!

a cookie sheet has only one (sometimes 2, on opposite sides) edge/lip to it, where a jelly roll pan has about a 1/2'' lip on all four sides. Most people used the jellyroll pan to bake cookies on though.

I don't know if it is the same thing, but I have used my cookie sheet a few times to make rolls. Once a pumpkin roll and a few times, a chocolate ice cream cake roll. MMMM
