I was thinking of a bottle of cognac or whisky, even chocolates with something related with painting, what do you think?

All help will be appreciated!

People always gave me 'painting related stuff' because I'm an artist. It is fun and nice to get but.. would you be happy to get a new ironing board for a special occasion?

Make it personal, not necessarily art related....unless you want to give a painting you made, THAT would be as personal as it gets.... and throw in that bottle for good measure. ;-)

I agree with one of the other people who answered the question. As an artist we do get a lot of art supply related gifts. Some times they are good, and other times they are bad. Getting a gift card to his/her favorite art supply store would be good. Yet picking out supplies for him/her is bad. We all have preferences that are very specific.

The bottle of cognac would be nice if your friend really loves cognac. But a better idea would be taking them out to dinner at a favorite restaurant. Or perhaps if they are the drinking type (as illustrated by the idea of cognac) take them to a bar/club for a night out. Giving an object, especially a purchased object, will give the wrong impression in a reconciliation type of situation. Just do something nice, let them know you care about them and that they are your best friend.

Hi,

The best gift for a reconciliation is saying that you care for him. One does not show friendship with material goods.
I'm not saying that a gift is a bad idea. I think it's a good one.
And of course that it can be a vehicle to make the reconciliation easier, but what it counts it's true friendship.
Good luck !

Kind regards,

José
