Police officers?

Question

Every cop in my city smokes.
Is it the stress from the job?
If it is, I totally understand.

I do not like smoking by the way.

Ya........ Stress relief.

I have struggled with quiting smoking for 20 years......... Stop for a week, month or longer and then something happens to get you off the wagon.

Its an evil habit that is hard to give up. Nicotine release happy chemicals in your brain. So, when times are hard... it just physically feels good to smoke.

Don't ever start.... ever.

I don't know what City you live in but both Agencies I worked for there were very few smokers (both had 300+ Officers) and we were restricted from smoking on duty and/or in the cars or in Police Facilities. None of my partners smoked and I have never smoked. I think it is disgusting and it also ruins your night vision, messes up your health and makes you smell like an ashtray.

I know smoking is a lot more prevalent in the Mid-West and on the east coast, but out here, not so much.......

Not all cops smoke. My friend is a police officer and he doesn't smoke. I guess some do because either they did before they became cops or just to relax.

Because they don't realize how bad it is for their health and everyone else that is their 2nd hand smokers.

Smoking actually gives their body more stress.
Do you see doctors smoke? Their job is more stressful.
Most of the cops only have high school education, that's why.
Once they started, they get addited.

It could be. My dad was on the job for 26 years, during a time when just about everybody smoked, but he never did. My brother's on the job now and he's never smoked either.

Not all cops smoke. but yes they do have a very stressful job.

I think it's the "tuff" mentality of police officers. Certain types of people tend to have certain behavioral tendencies.
I do wonder if every police officer in your city smokes or if it just seems like every police officer smokes.

Unless you live in a small city I find it hard to believe that EVERY officer in your city smokes.

I dont smoke but many of my co workers do. I believe it might have something to do with bordem at first. There is a lot of down time when you first start. It gives you something to do.

it could just be that alot of people smoke...they were msokers before they became cops and are continuing the habit...





I dont think thats very good though...smoking inhibits your ability to be athletic and they chase criminalsand stuff...so....haha...whew..
