Depends on how much you can afford. You are already paying for your dress and other articles needed for the wedding, as well as part of the bridal shower and bachelorette party I'm assuming. My maid of honor gave us $150 and I honestly thought that was too much. It's up to you, you'll be spending so much already to be in the wedding that you shouldn't feel obligated to give her as much as so many other guests will be giving.

i gave my cousin $800 because it was from me, my fiance, and my son.. and i wasnt even her maid of honor.. i was just in the wedding.. we gave my fiances cousin $250 because neither of us was in the wedding, and he sees her maybe twice a year... so its all about how close you are with the person... its not that we could afford the $800 but we made do.. i just felt like that was the right thing to do.. i am 26 by the way.. so i dont know if you are younger but my sister is my maid of honor and she is my sister and she is only 16 so i do not expect ANY more than $200 maybe even less

Why are you giving your sister money? Is this a family or ethnic tradition? Usually people give money when they don't know the bride well or if there's no gift registry. A person would assume that you know your sister well enough to know what she wants for gifts!! If it is a family or ethnic tradition, then your family would surely have customary amounts known. It does sound strange for a SISTER to not know what to give.

depends on if you want to give her cash/gift card or buy off the registry.
do what you can afford. don't go broke getting/giving her something.
i'm sure just having you there is special for her.
$100 is reasonable i think.

well i think from $50 to $100, is plenty, also another idea would be to get them something off there registry (if they had one) insted it might be cheaper and you know they'll love it!! but if not money is ALWAYS the way to go!

You are only allowed to give money as a gift if you are older than the person receiving the money. If you are not older than her and give her money it is considered to be very rude. Just something to keep in mind :)
