I asked if anyone knew the truth about the movie The Golden Compass, then tacked on a quote I picked up to show why I asked in the first place. I got an answer from someone called "Ard-Drui...", but when I went to start a discussion with them as to why I was insulted, but my question ignored, I found they refuse email and IM contact. This person made an assumption that because I used a quote, I must subscribe to said opinion. I have one thing to say to Ard-Drui...; I am Wiccan and was only asking what the truth was, not bashing anyone or anything. You should work on your self-esteem.

Interesting...within a few minutes I had answers, some pertinent, some not. My self-esteem was not the prompt to this current question, but a desire to find out what sort of mental attitude prevailed on this site was. Thanks, all, for the honest answers. and to those who felt it necessary to add insults (or whatever you'd call them)- Thanks for the laugh and the insight into the type of charachters I'll find on here. May the road ever rise to meet you.

This happened to me also. I got accused of not wanting to be in my faith - failure to give the correct answer and more upsetting quoting something which they thought was a joke. The following day when I posted the quote and where I got it from book and page I got a violation notice. I'm a bit nervous now about answering, do you answer to what is meant to be the correct answer or can you give a different view point or personal story. I wasn't even rude and hoped it would clear up the confusion lol didn't work. Sorry it happened to you but I can understand how upsetting this can be.

I'd say it's total ignorance of the subject. When you try to confront them they head for the hills. They are probably bored and looking to stir up trouble - there's always one around. Last time I looked, it was still an age of "free speech", "everyone has an opinion", etc. I guess as long it's the same of the ignorant person who insulted you, then that's okay. Don't worry, they'll go away. You just keep on putting forward your opinions.

don't take it personally i had the same thing happen. Some guy asked what people thought of the war and unfortunately I answered his question. he then tracked down a question I had posted about my dog and out of no where wrote about how I am brain washed and i support the war which was way over board from what I said. some people just can't handle a normal conversation.

the writer who wrote the book and produces the movie says he wrote it to turn kids away from God, and he said this this about the age-old Christian childrens series The Chronicles of Narnia:
"I loathe the 'Narnia' books," Pullman has said in previous press interviews. "I hate them with a deep and bitter passion, with their view of childhood as a golden age from which sexuality and adulthood are a falling away." He has called the series "one of the most ugly and poisonous things" he's ever read.

You posted this in an attempt to get the attention of someone you don't know, to clear up a possible misunderstanding they might have had of something you said, despite that they don't know who you are...
and 'they' need to work on 'their' self-esteem ?

Seems like a lot of that goes on in here. I don't understand if people are so touchy about this subject than why do they come on here and make it miserable for everyone else. Sorry that happened to you.

Because some people are like that...
Oh, and there is no truth, just different ways of seeing the same elephant.

You should also work on your self-esteem.
If you think that was an insult, you haven't been around here very long. That was actually one of the more polite misunderstandings I've seen.
