The state is increasing becoming more and more involved with the family structure. It is an eerie cycle since if disciplining children to behave and be respectful might be construed as abuse. The state now has a laundary list of reasons to take your kids away and place them in foster care.

Group homes would be more applicable to older kids usually there because they violated the law a few too many times.

I am a former foster parent and you wouldnt beleive some of the stuff those kids go through. If the parents are on drugs or alcohol they dont care what they do , whether it be leave there small kids at home alone. I seen one case that a mother left her 2 kids at home ages 6 months and 3yrs old home alone and the house caught on fire cause she had left a candle burning and the 3 yr old turned it over and it started fire. luckily a neighbor was outside and saw smoke and got the kids out. i get emotional when i talk about some of those pitiful children, sad situations.

Because people are having children just because, without thinking about the consequences, and just "getting rid of them" is the easiest way they can find. Then again, I know a girl in a group home right now whos parents both died, she has no siblings or any family at all to take her in...so thats good for her case. Some people who care.

My mom was a foster parent. While I don't know the case in each incident, I can give you some examples...

1) 3 week old baby...born addicted to drugs.
2) 3 year old child...mother addicted to drugs, abandoned child in an empty home/father molested child
3) 7,8,9 year old siblings...no one else would take all of them. All abused..the 8 year old had abused the natural child of the last foster home he was in...and abused children in his own class at school. Mother was on drugs/father dead/grandparents did not want them
4) 10 year old girl...Mother and father both on drugs and/or mentally ill.

Because their parents either A) Cant take care of them, B) have commited some kind of crime, C) are addicts, D) are alcoholic.

Or E) Because some form of tragedy has fallen on the family and the child is removed for a short amount of time, until problems can be solved.

ther are children in care for different reasons.
children whose parents cant cope with them anymore because the children are badly behaved and uncontrollable

children who have been orphaned

children who have been removed from their home because they were being physically/emotionally abused

children who are put there because their home life is deemed unsafe due to parents behaviour and lifestyle

children who are there because they are no longer wanted/or were not even wanted in the first place

illness of the parent (usually mental health ?stress and lack of support forces the family into this situation

because their parents don't make rules for the kids to follow, the parents would rather be their "friends" than parents, and when the kids get totally out of control, there is nothing left for the parents to do but turn them over or have them be taken out of the house, and instead of putting the blame where it should be, the blame is on the kids...

In large part, it's because too many people are having children before they're ready to be parents, and therefore, they lack the ability to care for their children properly, and when that happens, the state gets to care for the children, and the taxpayers get to foot the bill for it.

because we have to many kids having kids there parents are already on welfare and they cant get anymore money so they have to give the kids up. or because we have way to many parents that wont grow up and are still using drugs and alcohol instead of taking care of there kids. there are millions of reasons. its sad. make you wonder why movie stars don't help kids here in our country.

Because they have no one else to care for them or have been removed from their parents due to neglect or abuse.
