As late as possible, I started shaving when I had hardly any hairs and believe me they come back twice as thick. I have advised my daughter (12) to leave it as long as possible.

I was 12 when I started shaving, and my daughter's a little over 11- 1/2 years old and the poor thing has always had a lot of noticeable dark hair on her legs and it really made her embarassed by it, so about 9 months ago she started shaving. At first I helped her out so she wouldn't cut herself, but she's got the hang of it now.

I was 8 but my best friend was 12 and thats the only reason I did it that early. I think between 12 and 13 is a good age to start.

I have my daughter trained to believe that she will never shave her legs. I will wax them for her (yes I know how and have a license and professional products) when she has enough hair and wants it done. I think any age above 11 is OK. as each child is different and feels differently regarding these matters. My daughter is not ready for this so if in fact things work out differently for me than the joke is on me lol.

Edit--------------------------------------------------------------------

Amazing that I have 2 thumbs down for this answer. Waxing is a much better option than shaving and will actually cause the hairs to grow back less and less over time. It lasts a lot longer than shaving and is better for the environment to boot. Nothing going in a landfill over here. My daughter knows no other way as this is how she has always seen me take care of hair removal. You would think that I replied saying that she is shaving her legs at the age of 8 or something.

I started shaving when i entered sixth grade and everyone else was doing it. I guess that is around 11 or 12 years old. I don't know if this is when they should start though. I probably could have gotten away with not shaving a lot longer bc my hair was light. If your daughter has dark colored hair she may feel self concious about it and want to shave.

I was 12 when I started. But I wasn't supposed to. My mom always told me to wait because once I started, I couldn't stop and the hair would grow quicker and thicker.

I think I felt pressured to start because of a teacher asking all the girls in the class (in front of the boys!) who shaved their legs. And only a few girls raised their hand but it was in 6th grade and I'm guessing the majority of the girls who didn't raise their hands, went home that night and started shaving, just like i did.

i think the teacher shouldn't have put us on the spot like that.

I was thirteen and did it just because all the other girls were starting to. Because I had very light blond hair on my legs it was barely noticeable so I could have gone another year or two probably. I think it depends on the girl and the color of hair. My cousin started at around 12, but mainly because her girlfriends were telling her that they did it.

I would say at an age where it starts to bother them or the hair is really visible.

I know I was in 6th grade when I started, but I wish I always wish I did before that because I had dark leg hair.

I let my daughter start shaving this past spring when all her friends were doing it. She really didn't need to-she's got blonde hair and it didn't really even show up, BUT she has gym class and see's that all her friends were shaving, so she wanted to also. I showed her how a time or two and now she hardly ever does it! :)

Oh-she's 12-turning 13 in December.

about 12. normally when a young girl starts her period for the first time her hormones kick in and the hair will grow a little longer so at about that time in life is the perfect time to shave unless ur like my friend and didnt start until she was almost 17. wierd uh.
