I spent two hours last night looking at pictures of sore throats. Strep throat has tiny red blisters in the back almost as if you have "sprayed" them on. Also can have those patches on the sides where your tonsils are but not always. Strep throat usually is accmpanied by a fever, and sometimes a stomach ache. My son started with a sore throat, fever (that went away the next day) stomachache on Sunday but also had a stuffy nose and a little cough so I thought he may have the stomach flu. After three days and comparing his throat to the others, I believe he may have strep throat so we're going to the doctor. Most sore throats are cause by a virus that don't need antibiotics, but strep most definately needs antibiotic. Google Strep Throat Pictures. The best thing for you to do is have a doctor check it out. Note-in my son's case, he does not have white patches, but he does have typical looking signs of strep throat that did not show until today. If your throat doesn't get better within 2 to 3 days, go to the doctor. In the mean time don't breathe, cough or sneeze on anyone, don't touch your mouth, and wash your hands frequently. Ibuprofen works better than tylenol because it helps with the swelling. Remember if you don't have all the signs of strep throat, it still is a possibility for you to have it.

Throat pain
Difficulty swallowing
Red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus
Swollen, tender lymph glands (nodes) in your neck
Fever
Headache
Rash
Stomachache and sometimes vomiting, especially in younger children
There usually is some confusion, because many of these signs for strep are so similar to the signs of a simple cold. One big difference is that a cough is not associated with strep. These symptoms can also be indicators of a virus, tonsillitis, or other illnesses.
With a simple throat swab or rapid antigen test, your doctor can determine whether or not it’s strep throat, and antibiotic treatment can start right away.

sounds like it, but to properly diagnose strep, they have to do a throat culture, they just swab your throat and then run a test, they usually will start you on antibiotics, while they are waiting for the test. Toncillitis has the same symptoms. Try gargling with warm salt water, this will help ease your throat, zinc lozengers are good too. If your throat still hurts gotta go to the doc. If you start running a temp. you need to see the doc!
Hope you feel better:)

You doctor can do a strep test right in his office. You will get a same day answer. It is a virus, so there's really nothing you can do about it until it has run it's course.

When you say yellow, do you mean you see yellow/white patches distinctively in your throat? If so, I bet you have strep, too. Get to the doctor.

Could be. Also, could be from sinus drainage. Does the back have little white dots on it? Do you have a fever? Do you have a rash under your arms (may or may not)? Strep can be serious if left uncared for.
