My husband's mother's side of the family are JW. His uncle, who went to "hall" (thier church) 3 times a week just committed a gruesome suicide. I was wondering if his "hall" and family would think he is in hell (do they believe in hell?) or he wont' get into Heaven? How will being JW color thier reactions?

There is no way this is not intentional. He died literally just half an hour ago.

To one of the answers posted below: I didn't notice any of the links from the link I posted. I don't believe everything on that link either - but it did answer about heaven, hell, and what suicide does to a JW's soul and their chances of entering Paradise. The rest of it I just take with a grain of salt. Although I must admit to researching the claim of higher suicide rates in JWs. And I can see how that might true. I mean What is to stop a JW from committed suicide as it regards to their spirituality? Especially someone who has a good standing in the church, someone who might be afraid of getting back on drugs and being disavowed? Suicide might become preferrable.....just speculation since I do not really know anything about it except what is posted on the web. I did invite JWs into my home time and again but they always dodge my questions so I stopped trying to find out from the people who knock on my door.

We as Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in a hell where you are punished for wrongdoing in the sense that other religions teach. It is the common grave of mankind where the dead rest until they are resurrected to life or to judgement. Eccl.9:5,10 Psa. 146:3,4 John 5:28,29 Rev.21:3,4
As for a Witness committing suicide, that is sad, but not up to us, to judge. Anyone that commits suicide is not in their right mind, suffering from severe depression, for any number of reasons.
We rest assured that such ones are safe in our loving God Jehovah's memory, and are confident they will be judged by Him fairly.
We look forward to life here on earth, in the restored state of a paradise as it was originally intended.
We also look forward to seeing our loved ones again when they are resurrected.
Jehovah knows how hard life can be for us now. 2 Tim.3:1-5
So we hope to see such depressed ones return to a better way of life.
Sorry to hear about your family's loss.

Don't do it.

True Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) believe the bible to teach that intentional suicide is a serious sin. True Christians do not participate in so-called 'assisted suicides'.

However, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses has no interest in conjecturing about whether a person "intended" to kill himself or not, particularly when there is no earthly reason to do so. It seems obvious and biblical to note that a moment of insanity does not erase a lifetime of godliness.

(Ecclesiastes 7:7) For mere oppression may make a wise one act crazy

True Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) well-recognize that there is no reason to assume anything regarding another's potential for salvation; Jehovah and Jesus are the perfect, loving judges of humankind. They truly YEARN to resurrect those in the grave. (Incidentally, the concept of "hellfire" is entirely unscriptural.)

(Psalm 103:11-14) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, His loving-kindness is superior toward those fearing him. 12 As far off as the sunrise is from the sunset, So far off from us he has put our transgressions. 13 As a father shows mercy to his sons, Jehovah has shown mercy to those fearing him. 14 For he himself well knows the formation of us, Remembering that we are dust.

(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

(Job 14:14,15) If an able-bodied man dies can he live again? All the days of my compulsory service I shall wait [in the grave], Until my relief comes. You [God] will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning.

Did Jehovah condemn these individuals for feeling as they did? No. He even preserved their expressions in the Bible. It is vital to note, though, that none of those faithful ones let their feelings drive them to commit suicide. Jehovah valued them; he wanted them to live. The fact is, God is concerned even about the lives of wicked ones. He urges them to change their ways and 'actually keep living.' (Ezekiel 33:11) How much more does he want those who are concerned about winning his favor to keep living!

It's a coward way out of life, they believe hell is the common grave of man kind taken from the words , Sheol and hades, so the person will rest in the grave.

How can you ask such a question to the people that are "guilty" of teaching "suicide tactics"? The question is "If they are so bathe is Christ love, why did this person commit suicide?" Do you know that they believe a human must spill their blood on the ground and not save a life that is precious to God Almighty? They DON'T BELIEVE that CHRIST is our REDEEMER. They don't accept the TRUE reason's for why Christ Jesus died for us. Their belief is "blood transfusion will lead you to eternal death." They don't believe the person can cleanse themselves again. They don't believe Christ Jesus can redeem everyone. The parents must stand by the bedside and "watch" their child die before their eyes because they will not give life sustaining blood. They "induce" fear in their members. Telling them its their choice and it will be laid on their "conscious". Fear in that sense is not the reason for Christ Jesus sacrifice. Better go back and read the "NEW COVENANT'.

I don't think they really believe in Hell. Based on what I know they will likely say that God will resurrect the uncle and give him a chance to be on the restored earth for 1,000 years and decide whether or not to follow God. If he decides yes, he stays forever on paradise earth. If he decides no, then it's eternal death for him.
