I just saw a question down there and it made me want to ask.

At 16 and he's 24 most people say the age difference is too big to ignore, however,

When the girl turns 18 and he is 26, most people turn their heads at the relationship.

Why do you think this is?

There is so much emotional growth and maturity taking place during those significant formative years. I mean honestly, there is quite a difference in the maturity of a 16 year old versus an 18 year old versus a 26 year old. Folks at these ages are on totally different planes of existence, so yes the age difference between a 16 year old and 24 year old cannot be overlooked or dismissed.

The reason why people turn their heads is because they are to concerned with what the world an others think. True she is still a minor and young, but we don't know what this girl has been through or how she may be immature or mature. Things that happen in our lives changes us.I think the only ones to be concerned are her parents. Those against cannot sit here and say they have never dated an older man. Between my fiance and I there is a 15 year age difference. Age is nothing but a NUMBER.

If the girl was 20 and the age difference was 8 years, it would be no big deal, because she would be old enough to understand adult things. At 16 she is to young to know what life is all about. They think they do, but we all know that we as older adults how much we learned as we got older. They are called minors for a reason, they need a chance to grow and enjoy youth, while they are young. That is the problem with some of the adults today, they never had a chance to have fun when they where young. I may be wrong, but you asked what I thought.

if she is 18 who cares exactly shes not a baby that just had a sweet 16 it may not seam like it but 2 years of growth makes a big difference what if she get pregnant at 16 then what she not out of school cant depend on her self unless she grew up with a bad life when you have to grow up at like 10 or younger and take care of you self and or every one else you live with but anywaysthats not the point the point is thats like an 8-year old with a 16 year old or a new born baby with an 8 year old its just wrong until there 18 and grown up ! and the 24 year old should know better thats jail bait right there

I'd say 18 and 26 is still a big difference.
sounds like the guy was waiting when he was 25 ... once she turns from 17 to 18, here he is.

You have to remember what the laws say. And at 24 he would be guilty of satuatory rape because she is only 16! And in most states the age of consent is 18.

To much of a big age difference. 8 years is to much when you´re only 16. Besides, him being 245 and dating or having sex with a 16 yr old is statiotory rape. It would be ok if she was 21 and he would be 29-still an 8 yr age difference but she being older..But she is is way to young and against the law.

At 16 she is illegal! Once she turns 18 she can date anyone she wants no matter what age they are.I really believe age is just a number as long as both are of legal age.

Because you are an ADULT when you are 18.

When a girl is 16, and the guy is older, that is called Jail Bait!

because at 18 your an adult and more mature but people believe that at the age of 16 that you are immature and "en-experienced" at such a young age.
