I blame the christian church for causing strife in families by always insisting a law needs to be written to prevent someone from doing something. You make law abiding citizens criminals with every law you pass. The laws are passed at the urging of do-gooders which rarely have anything to do with the problem at hand but it gets tiny people noticed in the newspapers. The most criminall society is the one with the most laws. Likewise the most immoral state is the most religious.

Hey, I have to live in there.
No, I do not think Christianity is to blame. However, the relatively high poverty rate and relatively low education rate will inflate both the crime rate and the number of believers.
It is proof that Christianity does not equate to morality.

i don't think christianity is directly to blame: many christian countries have a relatively low incidence of homicide.
but countries with capital punishment nearly always have high murder rates. capital punishment cheapens human life and puts out a message that it is ok to kill people; then obviously what the state says is ok will be perceived as ok by private citizens also.
of course the us is a democracy. the american public likes the high murder rates, because it means they get to execute more criminals (and criminal executions make such high-rating tv features). the lawyers in particular love capital punishment because the appeals procedure puts such a lot of money in their pockets.
americans like killing people. they like killing them wholesale through judicial procedure. they also like killing them retail by murder. they even have a flourishing export business delivering the benefits of killing people to afghanistan and iran.
so i don't think being christian is the direct cause.
of course being a christian helps some:
being a christian means never having to say you're sorry.

Most religions teach God forgives sins against him but it is up to the individual that sins against another individual to gain forgiveness from that person. Christianity allows you to committ any sin and be forgiven and not be accountable to another person. It's easier to ask forgiveness from God then from a human. It is even easier to not committ a crime against another human so you don't have to ask for forgiveness from them in the first place.

I would say that correlation doesn't prove causation. However, it does tend to provide evidence against the reverse correlation; that is, religion probably doesn't make you a more moral person.

I think lack of education leads to christianity (especially their version of it), violence and crime and also poverty.
