I know some that wear them to the ceremony too (those w/ bad feet)...not at all tacky...who really sees your feet anyhow? Perhaps just your toe area....there are plenty that are pretty enough in the toe area to let them slide. If you do indeed go that way at least you'll be comfy all night. :) Sounds smart to me! :)

I don't see anything wrong with doing it...or see it as TACKY. (I thought that word was over in the 80's, but I see I was wrong by reading so many questions on here)

I think the slippers are a good idea though, because what about in pictures if your dress happens to go up and show your feet would you mind that in pictures? I know I wouldn't like to see my feet in the pictures-but I also don't like germs and dirt on the floor so I would get the flat ballet type shoes for that reason as well.

To answer your question, no, it is not rude or tacky-just a personal preference.

Happy Wedding!

I got married in the sand at the beach and my husband and I both wore flip flops that left the prints "just married" in the sand as you walked. I changed into heeled shoes for the reception but changed back into the flip flops when my feet started hurting. But under no circumstances, no matter what public place you are in, (except the beach and the pool, and sometimes even then), should you ever take your shoes off and go barefoot. It is absolutely rude and very disgusting. You don't know the last time anyone cleaned that floor, and believe me I used to work at a catering hall, they never cleaned it enough! Put on some slippers or flip flops, whatever is comfortable to you, but don't go barefoot!

I've seen wide varieties of footwear. I think it is most important to ensure your footwear is hidden (floor length dress) if you plan on wearing something other than nice shoes (flats or heels), such as the bunny slippers.
My plan is to go for white leather ballet flats for the entire thing (I have knee/ankle problems and don't do well in heels).
I've seen most brides switch to other shoes or slipper-type shoes, not just take them off entirely.

My sister got these cute slippers that were white with fur. They were the cutest. Anyway, she put them on during her reception and it just looked adorable. I don't think that not wearing any shoes is a good idea, plus you are at risk of other people stepping on you.

It may be considered tacky by some, but not by others. I personally would stash a pair of comfortable shoes to wear at the reception, but that's just me - I don't like going barefoot.

I would get a pair of white flats or slippers. Walking around barefoot is tacky unless you have a wedding on a sandy beach. No one want to see your feet. Also, your gown will be fitted to be the proper length in your shoes...your gown will drag in bare feet.

It's not tacky, but I would put something on. I liked the first answers bunny slippers. That'd be cute. Only because people tend to drop drinks and food and stuff on the ground. I know i wouldn't want to step in any of that!

Congrats by the way

I went barefoot as soon as the ceremony was over, and I was originally wearing flats. I danced my butt off and was much more comfortable without shoes. Everyone thought it was a great idea and it was my wedding so I did what felt right for me.

I've never heard it being tacky, and I did the same at my 1st wedding. Of course, my dress was so long that you couldn't see my feet. One of my friends bought new sneakers to wear at her reception.

BUT It is your wedding! you should set the tone for your bridesmaids and the other guests. If you take your shoes off, they will likely follow suit. If you leave your on, or switch to another pair of shoes, your bridesmaids may feel uncomfortable ditching the pretty but uncomfortable shoes, so do it for the good of their feet :)
